Do you know for sure if there are different tooth counts? I kind of thought they were all the same. I'm not sure though. I have one out of a 1960 Pickup OD in the garage. I just counted 146 teeth on it.
Not sure which clutch it HAD, this one didn't have it with it.

The way I read ford parts book, 146 tooth ring gear with a 12 3/8 diam. bolt circle. It does list another, but doesn't state number of teeth. It says 54-59 st/od with 11 3/8 diam. bolt circle.

There are 4 Y Block flywheels that Im aware of. The standard car and truck 10 and 11" clutch are the most common and both use a 146 tooth ring. These were used 54-64. Ive heard tales of some compatibility with 312 TBirds but havent had 1st hand experience.

Then there is a 11" that came out in 58-64 for trucks that wont swap with others due to a different (called positive action) starter. Dont know tooth count.
Then there is another for 11 1/2 and 12" used in larger trucks 61-64 only.

The 239/256 was internally balanced, the 272 and up was external.

The balancers have a bad habit of the rubber loosening up and causing slipping.
Things you learn by working on them and not reading books.
