Eggs, Bacon and HAMB

A group of us Michigan Hamb folks got together yesterday for alittle (yeah, right!) breakfast and shop crawl. We all met up in kind of central MI, some driving as far as 3 hours to join us. Charlie Chops 1940 gets long distance! http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Two guys drove their hot rods, Hot Rod Tom and Mr Gasser. You guys might be saying, driving your hot rod, no big deal right? Wrong. There was snow on the ground in the morning and so much ice on the highways, there were cars and trucks in the ditches everywhere and freeway on ramps closed. It took big khunas to drive your hot rod yesterday morning. Thanks guys, it was great seeing them.

After breakfast, most of us headed over to Franks Shop. Always a TONS of projects going on there. He was warned we were coming and made his guys clean the place spic and span for us. This car was waiting for our arrival in the parking lot.

Once inside it was toasty warm and folks wandered around at their leisure.

At this point the cookies were brought in, everyone had dessert, and folks started taking off for home.

A few of us ended up heading over to the Mad Pleater's shop where Roadstars super secret traditional interior is being developed.

The interior of the car is completed, he's just working on the seat right now. The 40 looked AWESOME! I was very impressed with the quality of his workmanship and the timely fashion it's being done in. The cars been in his shop like 2 weeks rso. Just amazing. Man, what a blast!! I ate so many huge pancakes I can actually wear normal size pants. Fran's was great, very polite and willing to answer questions. [Hot Rod To Hell]

Yep. I had a pretty good time. Even my friend Bob, who is mostly antisocial had fun! I wish I could've gone to Franks with you guys, but I had to go hang out with the rednecks at the gun show! http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif While I'm sure I didn't have quite as much fun as you guys I bought a $2200 gun safe! http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif I figure with 2 kids of my own, and a bunch of nieces and nephews coming and hanging out it was money well spent; but now I have no $$$ to put into the car! http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/frown.gif Oh well! A newbie to the group, on my left, is DIRTYT (Brian). He came up to my place Fri. (from the Detroit area) to pick up a 235 for his recently purchased '50 Chevy. I was glad to see him make it to the breakfast. He met some new people and fit right in. It's always great to see some new young blood. Makes you feel good about the future of our hobby.

good seein ya all as usual. wish i coulda hung out with Mr.Gasser, Race and you other hoodlums a bit more but we did'nt get back to my place till well after midnight as it was. well, we did stop for a couple hours at Paul Beck's place to shoot the shit and even got to look inside ONE of his barns full of the coolest hot rod stuff you've EVER seen. i felt priveledged cause not everyone gets to see "the good stuff". he has a complete blown, injected 392 HEMI top fuel motor he said he's gonna sell me http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif if so that SOB goes RIGHT in the living room!! ...you think i'm kidding??

I had a great time. Every place we stoped had really cool stuff to look at.It was fun meeting more people with the same interests as me.I got to here a bunch more cool stories.Hopefully by spring I will be driving my Olds to these get togethers.I would have posted sooner but I killed my computer and had to have a friend fix it for me.
