had to do up this sign real quick this afternoon, the Ministry of Labour stopped at my buddy's body shop and apparently the" lime green 2 foot square " eye wash station isn't visible enough. I figure anybody with 2 eyes full of laquer thinner won't be able to read the sign either !!

Great picture B59! Great vantage point and I really like the way there is no photographer reflected in the bumper.I go nuts trying to eliminate that when I shoot a picture.Really like your work and look forward to seeing picture in the art show.
I didn't post anything last week(at least I THINK I didn't;another CRS moment)so I'll throw a couple in early.
First is a piece on glass(sent my brother a couple of pictures sans frames so I figured I'd use them). One is 3 shades of blue painted all on one side and the second is 6 colors with the red, orange, and yellow on one side and the green, blue, and purple on the other.I then combined the two but it's really incoherent.
The second is a study in teardrop shapes done with a brand new striping brush(000)to break it in and see how it works.
The third is a work in progress.I outlined some flames on a Model A roadster yesterday and they guy I did it for gave me the piece.A friend of his cast it up in fibreglass and it's about 2 feet long.
I sprayed it with Rust-O-Leum maroon and then a light coat of prismatic flake.Went to use the Dupli-Color clear and it buckled the paint in back of the front wheel so I flamed it with 1-Shot.Still have to outline the flames and maybe add a little white to the leading edge and detail the tires and wheels.Looks like a have another wall hanger with no wall left.
The last is a small aluminum panel baremetaled and scraped with a sanding block, cleared and prismatic flake added. The design and lettering is done in blue and white. It was for my grand-daughter.

Guys!!!! I'm not tring to sound like a ASSHOLE or anything! (Athough I usually do) OK! A lot of the art on here I hold way above my scratch ass production shit! I'm suggesting and asking... Please quit using WHITE!!!! Dump imitation gold in that white and make IVORY!!!!! BONE WHITE.... ALREADY POPPED VIRGIN WHITE!!! what ever you whant to call it. Through out your piece. paint a mural,,, use ivory for all your white additives... it will add 30 years too your stuff.... NO SHIT! White and red or any other color will look cheap once you switch to ivory. Youll see.
The art that shows up on this board is the real deal... Real guys... Real love, and great examples of whats going on in the Hot Rodding world. please take this as just a sugestion.

Sometimes you don't get the choice...I can't tell you how often I can't convince the customer to use colors that would better suit the job at hand. It's like when I know ONE color of striping is all the car/bike NEEDS, but the owner HAS to have 2 or even 3 colors. Or, how many more red and white on black striping jobs are gonna be squeezed outta my brush?

But, yeah, you're right...Off-White is the new White.

I wanted to post and give props to Kustom Keifer. Last week's Friday Art Show, he posted this sketch. It blew me away because my wife and I honeymooned on Maui, stayed at the Ka'anapali Beach Resort, and had our picture taken in front of this tiki. Best time of our lives.

So, I PM'ed Keifer and gave him a call at his shop on Saturday. Had a chance to talk to him and his wife. Nicest people. We had a good talk about how awesome Maui is. And he agreed to make me a print of the sketch!

Yesterday I got home and found the print delivered to my house. That's right. I saw the sketch on last Friday's Art Show, and had my own print in time to post for this Friday! The price was super reasonable too. I surprised my wife with it. It brought her to tears. We're going to frame it and put it in our bedroom with all the other Hawaii stuff we've got going. It's nice to wake up every morning and get a little taste of that honeymoon.

So, here's my plug for Keifer. Cool people, cool art.

I agree guys... and biker fags are the worst. Just grit your tetth and tell em it will look like shit. (Thats where I start soundin like an asshole) 90 percent of guys that want red and white, really saw red and ivory, they just dont know it. make em beleve it... tell em you havent used white on a stripe for at least 6 months. The doctor that owns the bike will think he's "Behind the times" and go for it.

And YES I agree, my brushes are gonna burn themselves in protest if I do another red and ivory on black!! But damn it looks good! and i make em do it anyways.

Thanks,
Joshua Shaw.

Once a guy gets the "line pulling" thing down the other hard part to striping is Design. It can be difficult to come up with "eye pleasing" designs. Nice going, your in the right direction.

Here's a Voss bottle I did as a goof for a friend. BIG MISTAKE!!
Striping a cylindrical piece of glass was awful. You have to hold it in one hand, then you don't have a bracing hand, the glass is slippery, and the cylinder makes it real difficult to keep your lines consistent (thickness).

Here's a guitar I did for the C-POP show this weekend. Anyone that's coming downtown for the Motor City Music Conference, drop in to C-POP. There are a bunch of guitars by local artists on display. It's all one-shot.

No... it had nothing to do with that other show, it was just a take off of it with a different group and style of skaters that do art in our Local San Jose scene. We are not anti any other art shows, we just thought it would be a funny name for one and go off the same title of the other show since it's also skateboarders that do art:)
It was a fun time and hope to do more of them in the future.
best wishes and thanks for the compliments everyone also to Dave and Yorgi for coming out to support the show.

Hey Coupe De Cab, Is that show part two or an anti "Beautiful Looser" shoow? I dig that piece. I love that shit. My roomate Scott did this in College.

Just got back in from the shop.Re-worked a PT Cruiser I did awhile back.Had to re-do the snout due to ineffective application of brakes. He just picked it up.
Got some more stuff to post:
First pic is an airbrushed Rat Fink given to me the other day.Guy who did it is named Lance Rowton. For canvases,he visits the shop that makes convertible tops for Ford,GM,and Chrysler(Dura Convertible Top Systems in Adrian MI)and gets scraps of convertible top material.Great medium and great idea.
Next is a mini surfboard he cut out and sprayed and I doodled on it a bit. Then the Merc in progress. And finally a couple of plates in progress.

Thanks! I just use clear plexi and back paint it once the striping dries. In this case I used some cheapo Rustoleum metallic paint from the hardware store [the silver lays on pretty well, but the gold kinda sucks].

Thanks, I'll post a step by step if I figure out this camera! I'm tring to get these pics reduced in pixle size but still remain large on here. I export them as a JPEG and have to reduce the size from 1600 to 300. I dont know what the hell I'm doin' Some help would be welcome!

P.S. The computer I am working on has no art programes what so ever so dont go that route.
I'm working in "iphoto" off of an Olympus digital camera.

O/T, but it's the last thing I did. I painted this freehand on a block wall at the local roundy-round track using a 1" brush.

He's not real, If it was real, he'd be dead right now, that car is about to hit 'em.

Nice job Animal, but why didn't you just paint the wall grey with a roller? Was the 1" wide brush part of the artistic statement you were trying to make?:D

This is what I was gonna do for the shift knob for the rivi (not this color)but I like the original knob with the blue flake paint so I guess Im gonna sell a few of these to recoop costs. Anyone know a good lowrider site I can pedal these on.

[QUOTE=dueceC-Dan]Guys!!!!

Hey Pappy!........thanx for the rant. Beein' new to stripin' I have been tryin' ta come up with an off-white ( ivory ) Been mixin' yellow 'n white and it just dont look right........more like a cream. Gona try yer mix on my next pieces. Will post later on a friday show.

Good luck T-bonez, Youll figure it out. Next time you do a mural with a brush such as a pin-up girl, or a shop logo... Use Ivory throughout it. When you make light blue use ivory instead of white...and so on. It will give it an aged, classic look that fits on hot rods.
