View Full Version : shaved trunk handle

anyone have any suggestions on how to hook up my trunk latch so it will stay closed, the previous owner shaved it and never hooked any latches on it..so the trunk is held closed with a bungee..haha any sugestions? i never dealt with shaved stuff..its a 50 chevy fastback if that makes any difference..thanks adam

You could find a stock latch and hook a cable to it, or get a small bear claw latch from rocky hinge company. That's what I used. I've seen others use VW hood latches.

Get some stuff from a ricer,some of them got long wires,and easy converted latches. And put a little spring there too,so it pops up easy. I used some Nissan stuff once,worked well.

i dont have a latch on mine and it stays closed just fine and its a 50 chev try it like that see what happens. works for me

I had to physically get in the trunk to fabricate mine. The problem with the Fleetlines is the angle of the latch. I bought a mini bearclaw and an electric solenoid popper. You have to fab some angles to hold the latch. It sux to build but mainly because you are in the trunk the whole time. I removed all the latch mechanism first, then set up the angle that the latch had to hit the striker. Email me if ya want and I'll try to explain iot better.
