Hello all hope all is well. Pray for your patience while I learn the rules of the road. I have a 1960 el camino in stock and original condition. i would like to explore the practicality of restoring this vehicle to reliable driving status, not pure original, but with the 235 inline if it will do the job. Your thoughts in general are appreciated, your responses to my specific posts very much appreciated.

Welcome from Okla. Just joined myself the other day. Just navigate the topics and you'll figure it out. I had a problem figuring out how to get a photo on my profile sheet. It's the avitar list if you havent figured it out yet. And, sure the 6 banger will work, AND it will be different. There are plenty of performance stuff out there for 6's. Clifford 6=8 makes lots of 6cyl stuff and there are others. I say go for it and build a real ,'SLEEPER". I've seen some 6s that would blow away a lot of V8s. Again welcome!!

60elco, ............Welcome to the H.A.M.B. ...............from Arkansas City, KS.
60 el camino's are good looking rides, and the plan to keep the 235 inline is very appealing to me. There are so many ways to dress up the engine and parts available today, ... why not? The Engines are very dependable, not that bad on gas, and a sound from the duals that can not be beat. Good Luck !

I drive my 1959 Apache with a 235 and a 3 speed every day. It's been rebuilt and it runs great.

Post some pix of that '60!

welcome, the 235 are not too bad, they sort of grow on you as you drive them.
i put a split exhaust with glass-packs on mine and really like the sound. it is underpowered but will get you around while you work on the rest.

welcome, lets get some flat black on the body, and some red on the wheels, and remove the fenders, chop it, add some flame and skull type of stuff and off you go!

Thanks all for your welcoming statements. Guess I will stay with the 235 for now and get the el camino going. Later? Who knows?

Welcome. Keeping the 6 is a great idea. You can build one to really move and with dual exhaust they sound better than most V-8's IMO.
