Well got some tires on my '49. when I finish the sanding/painting it should look ok. I would have rather gotten WWWs, but I't better than 3 flats and hell at $33 each I can't complain. Someone mind putting some flames behind the front wheelwells or any other ideas? I got the grn crappily photoshopped on so far.

I went a little farther with the photo shop than you wanted but here you go http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Thanks Phil.... Lets see I could probably manage the '57 cady caps, but that's about the limit of my skills. Awesome looking shoebox though.

Didn't want to leave you hangin' here... I stuck with the basics... lowered, shave, skirts, cleaned up the front, side trim, and wheels/tires. Played with some flames/scallops but nothing stuck.

Won't take much to have a cool cruiser.. or go the other way with a rake, dumps, big-n-littles, etc... (ala BASS) for a street fighter look.

Hope this helps.

Revhead. You're headed down the right track. Just get it as low as you can stand and you'll be surprised how good it looks.

The cheap route

3 inch blocks in the rear and de-arched springs (any spring shop can do this relatively cheap). This will get you down 4 to 4.5 inches.

Up front I'd cut out a leaf from the coils...maybe even two.

If you've got a little more money to spend

Go w/ new 2 inch drop springs in the rear and 2 inch blocks, plus new shorter springs up front. You would be surprised how well the old box would ride w/ fresh springs all around that have the correct rates.

Here's another thought: Get some Port-A-Walls for the wide white look you're seeking. There is a place in the back of Hemmings Motor News that sells them. They're like $40...pretty cheap. If you install them properly you'll never have trouble with them. Get those wheels blasted and powdercoated red for the rockabilly look. If that's not your thing, chrome smoothies are cool too.

If you are putting the car in green tinted primer green scallops that are a few shades lighter than the primer would look real cool.

I'll try to come up w/ some pic.'s when I'm at home. Great start though man! Just remember, a good stance is where it's at.

Hmm a combo of the wheels and tires from Bufords and flames from monster and I think that's what I'm looking for. I'm gonna try to get it sitting right this next week. Hopefully it'll turn out something like what you guys did here. Thanks for the photoshops and advice.
