David Gulliver here.. I'm down in Ardmore, near the TN/AL state line.
My dad, Dick was an ATAA drag racer in the mid 50's, got a couple Top Speed and Top Eliminator nationals to show for it. He was running a '36 Buick in class SE. Straight 8 Fireball power. He was from Ames, Iowa and a member of the Nightcrawlers there.
I got the car bug too, I guess it never lets up. Been lurking around here awhile, finally joined up at the urging of a couple friends. I like it here, lots of good guys and great info. Thanks for having me.
Here's some of Dick's pictures from '57 or so at the Ames Dragstrip. They took over the old airport runway in '55 I think. There's also Dick and his brother Bill with the '36..
