We finally had some really nice weather today. After putting up X-mas lights i decided to stop by a friends house to check the progress on his car.
like i said in the topic, it's not a trad rod or custom. It's an original black on black '67 mustang gt with a 390-4 speed.
whats trad to me is this kid is 21 years old and doing everything at home, the way it was done "back in the day" http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif
I can't wait to see this thing done...because he's already gathering parts for a '33-'34 ford coupe for the next project.SB ford motor, 5 speed etc..

Here's the eye opener..
I'm drivin over in my pick up, enjoying the weather and just being behing the wheel of my hot rod.I get there and take some pics, stand around and bs with him, his pop's and some of his friend's when an ambulance and fire truck pull up next door.
To make a long story short, the guy next door, a 40 year old family man has had a heart attack! This is the second one for him too!
After seeing his wife and son, and the condition he was in, i realised that there are so many things we take for granted. Like cruising in our rods, or breathing for that matter.
It bothers me to know that seeing something like this is what it takes for me to open my eye's and realise how short life can be..
sorry for the long winded story..it's just on my mind, along with him and his family.

Hey, if it's fast, it's cool to me. My cousin bought a '69 Mustang out of a junkyard and fixed it up pretty damn nice... I have to admit it was a cool car. I'm not sure if he's getting it back though... it's one for a 21 year old guy to fix up his own fast car, and another to give cash to a 18 year old and make him a fast as shit car. He got it impounded the other day for racing a '68 Camero. Doin' about 80 in a 40. I saw him blast by my house, but so did the local chief of police.

Mustang, 390, 4 speed. Really fun to drive, with the stock tires really a handfull...HE HA!!......OLDBEET

Thats what i'm talkin about!! He has really impressed me with his drive and know how. He's also built a '84 mustang, his first car, from the ground up as well. It's damn nice, and has a 347 stroked sbf, aluminum heads etc..and a best 1/4 mile of 12.60 through the pipes, with NO bottle and a stick!!!

kid's got a lot of talent.

He's gonna set the '67 up basically 'stock' appearing, with the exception of torque thrust "D" rims, and a little more heat under the hood http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Just when you start to question whether the younger generation is ever going to amount to anything along comes someone like this. This guy is going to do OK if he has already accomplished this much. I'm a Chevy man but that year Mustang with a big block is my favorite.
You should give him a video of Bullitt to watch if he ever slows down enough to take a break.

I think "Bullit" is one of the reasons he wanted a '67.

I'm not into mustangs, but i do like the style of '67-'68 and '69 fastbacks.
I think this car will be really nice when done.
He'll do alright.

Looks good, I've always wanted one just like that, guy down the srteet from where I lived as a kid has a dark blue one with cragars, and of course there was Bullitt. Looks like he has his stuff together.
