First Friday in October, Harris Ranch Hotel outside Coalinga, CA. Right on I-5.
Make it your R&R stop on the way to the California Hot Rod Reunion.
Here's more.
Hop Up Magazine's Rattle Can Nationals
Friday Oct. 3rd,
Stop by the RATTLE CAN NATIONALS on your way to the CHRR,
Friday morning at Harris Ranch Hotel's BACK (S.E.) parking lot.
Starts about 8am. Folks will be showing up to eat meat the Nite before too, some will stay Friday nite too. Then head for the Races! Bakersfield is a little over an hour away.
Come for a while or just cruise thru on your way. Things usually break up early Friday afternoon and then...
Harris Ranch (aka; the Club House, aka; the Oasis) is on
I-5 about half way between Sacramento and LA. Comin South, watch for the stockyards, you can't miss 'em. Look for the Coalinga exit and your close. Reserve rooms soon if you need them.

Tom, Kevin, Wayne-- If your going up Thurs we should try to coordinate the caravan. I think 'The Master' figures on the usual convoy hauling up there and arriving as usual, just in time for the cocktail-hour. I'm even installing a clean fuel filter for the trip!
4eva4- figure out how to get there and be there. Normal cars are tolerated providing they feature sufficiently filled ice-chests. And bring a camera.

Homeresque... I think last year's convoy +BarnYardChevy and maybe another are planning on it...
So to the LBC area folks... If it is like last year, we will meet at the Gas Station at the 91 & Cherry, Thursday AM...
Regardless of what I bring, it will be a shakedown run, but I AM going to check the fuel filter before I leave http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif.
And yes, if I do bring the remaining pieces of the Terraplane, it will still be leaning for your enjoyment http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif.

I head to B'field Friday afternoon, several others do too. Some stay at the Ranch until Saturday morning.
Mild Mitch
09-13-2003, 03:28 PM
This is kind of a transitory deal. Some stay and some go on over to Bakersfield Friday afternoon.
We usually do some sort of Road Trip about 12 or 1pm on
Friday and then everyone goes where they want. I really don't know if anything is planned yet. It's usually pretty loose.
Hang out in the morning and do something in the afternoon. That's about as structured as this deal gets, that's part of it's charm I guess. We will stay Friday, and there is typically 8-10 o us that hang out and drink in the bar and then go eat RED MEAT.
Homeresque
09-13-2003, 05:34 PM
Yeah, what Wildness said, the thing is actually on Friday, but I think the best time is the golden hour late Thurs when everyone has blown in, relaxing and working up to go eat and party. Most people split for Bako after the Friday lunch-run but some stay the next night and be mellow.
Neal, you should come but the RCN tradition has always been if theres a birthday-child, he/she picks up the bar tab!
Some of us Phoenix goons will be joining in on the fun. Our caravan should consist of me in my Ranch Wagon with two crazy swedes as passingers, Jerry in his "stealth truck", and our pal Jeff in his totally spot on flathead powered A roadster on duece rails. Maybe a few more. See ya'll there.

Talked to the big Kahuna on Sunday, he's planning on the 91fwy at cherry in 'da long beach hood meet up. None of us seems to know what time this is going to happen, I think we should set some time. Maybe a stop along the way to look at some rod collections or...idono? That way we won't get there to early. A stop or two will make it more fun. The plan is to consolidate at the Roxford onramp (just south of the 210) around 11:00am-ish. I dont know if we'll stop for lunch then, or plow on thru and break at Wheeler. Looks to be around 10 cars, one with a trailer so I dont think we'll flirting with 90mph again!

Here's a weird issue I've got:
I'm planning on driving my roadster down to the Rattle Can Nationals and Hot Rod Reunion, leaving tomorrow morning.
Here's the snag:
My wife and Mom are picking me up in Bakersfield on Saturday, and I'm going down to Orange Co. for my GodDaughters 1st birthday ( I can't miss this one...)
Is anyone from the Bay Area going down to the CHRR with a trailer that might have space to take my Model A back up? Maybe someone is dropping off a car in Bako and has an empty spot for the way back?
Otherwise, maybe I should just catch a ride down. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused.gif
