What bolt pattern and sizes were the 30's chevy artillery wheels, anyone know of any other wheels that look like them. I think I'd like to replace my red ford wires with a set of bare metal artillery wheels, were these available in a 5 on 5 1/2" bolt pattern? Backspacing? any ideas? help?.... Thanks..... LUKESTER

Yo Lukester.....I've never seen an artillary wheel with a 5.5" bolt pattern. Chevy had 'em in a 6 lug pattern and I believe mid-late 30's mopars had 'em in a 5 on 4.5" bolt pattern.....The Divco wheels had a 5.5" bolt pattern and look alot like an artillary wheel....rare but obtainable. I think they only came in a 18" size tho..

There were some artillery wheels made in 5 on 5 1/2 pattern, but i don't know who made them or whether they were aftermarket. I may still have one somewhere. If I find it, I'll try to post a picture later.

Hey Lukester, How did you get those wires to fit your 8 3/4 anyhow? is it from an imperial?

Just wondering `cause I`m planning the same thing for my `27

FrameDragger, those look like `36 Dodge wheels, no?

I picked up a set of 17 inch ones with a 5 on 4 1/2 bolt pattern. They appear to have DB stamped on them. Is that "Dodge Brothers"? Any idea of the year/ model?

I picked them up at Carlile, PA sometime around 1997 for $25 for 5. They are in really good shape and look like bad ass. At the time, I was collecting pieces for a bonneville look model A. I still have the pieces...I just didn't do the mail-slot chop.

Bondo, according to what I can find, the 5 lug Chevy rims are different, and rare... As of today, I have been unable to find a matching set for the fronts http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/crazy.gif ...

i JUST PURCHASED 7 OF THESE AND AM TRYING TO FIGURE OUT WHAT THEY BELONG TO.THE ONE STILL HAS A SMALL CHEVY HUBCAP ON IT AND MEASURES APPROX.18 1/2 ACROSS,IS 4 1/2"WIDE AND IS APPROX. 4 1/4" X 5 BOLT PATTERN.Five of them are the same with a 6 x 5 bolt pattern,5 1/2"width and approx.18 3/4"across.The last one is a mopar(i think),it measures 17"across,is 5"wide,and is a 4 1/2" x 5 bolt pattern.Any ideas how to identify?

The wheels Framedragger got from me came off the front of a 34 Chevy coupe....the front suspension appeared stock and unmodified...I assumed they were Chevy.....

The ones I run are 16x4.5 with the 5 on 5.5. I think the same ones shown above with a different cap design. Made by Kelsey Hayes.

Yeah, five little spring clips on the wheel. I'm using '40-'48 Ford type caps.

5 on 5 1/2" pattern artillery wheel, 15" & 16", used on a few series, but not all, '36 Buick and '36 Chrysler. The 5 on 4 1/4" 17" Chevy wheels are '36 Standard and seem common - at least up here. The 6" wide 15" 6 lug are '35 - '42 GMC or Chevy pickup, standard on some models and an option for the rest. The 16" 6 lug are '35-6 Pontiac - often thought to be Chevy. The 17" 6 lug are '35-6 Chev Master or 1/2 ton truck. Then adding to the mix are the aftermarket wheels, trailers, "Jumbo" tire retrofits ...

These are 16"x4.5" 5 on 5.5" - They are off a '36 Hudson and use '40 Ford caps . They too use 5 clips to attach the cap. Hope that helps.
