Hello! My name is Bob and I'm 61. I have ridden old Shovelheads for 40+ years and still have them, but I have always loved hot rods.
A few years ago I had a heart attack then cancer. If I knew I'd live this long I would've taking better care of myself ! Anyway, I've managed to come through it all OK. Then my wife finally told me if I ever wanted a hot rod I better not wait, what a woman!
I did not build this car, a pretty cool young guy started this project and then needed money, so I bought it. It's a 1927 Studebaker tub with a 1967 283 on a Turbo 350 3-speed auto trans. I wanted something that was at least running and I'll take it from there. Also I build rat bikes (bicycles) for the grandkids. I'm shootin' for the Worlds Coolest Grampa !

Hey thanks a lot! I'm here in Lapeer, but my wife came from Auburn Hills. now it's Rochester Hills (21 mile & Crooks Rd). I'm around your territory often seeing the In-Laws. And a good friend owns "The Motorcycle Shop" at 59 and Crooks Rd.

Way to go Gramps! The key to staying ahead of old age is to outrun it. You are on the right track from the looks of it!

Love them Shovels......THE Knucklehead is the best looking engine, but the Shovelhead is the best sounding engine...........in my opinion.

Welcome Bob,
Stretch the legs on that Rat Rod and bring it to New Lothrop, MI the last Saturday of July to our car show. This year will be our 21st annual show. It is a lot of fun, great food, good people, prizes, and pretty country girls to look at!!! We are only about 45min away.

New Lothrop is just 1.8 miles west of M-13 on Easton Rd. The whole main street is blocked off for the day of the show. We usually have around 175-200 cars in the show. My Dad started this show in 1990 and it is still going strong. Free dash plaques for the first 200 cars, nice wall plaques for the top 50 cars, trophies for the best of show. We have a great DJ playing 50-60's music. TONS and TONS of good food, ice cream, all sorts of good stuff to eat, prizes given away all day long, music, very friendly people, nice cars, fun contests to watch, stuff for kids to do, If the weather cooperates I promise you will have a good time. Try to make it if you can and tell anybody you know that has a car to tr to come. If you have any questions, email me at raleigh71@yahoo.com and I will help you any way I can.

Welcome from Rowlett, TX. You are pretty cool as a Grandpa allright---hell, you could be mine but since i'm older that won't work. Now I'm real confused---better have another nap and get over it. Glad to have you on the HAMB.
