I like Pete Paulsen better than Wheel Vintiques and Stockton Wheel - have dealt with all three. Not sure you'll find true 'reversed' wheels, but they offer several types of chrome OEM's or Milners.

I had a set made at stockton wheel co. They were perfect and to what I wanted for offset. Had 15x5 and 15x8 made and they fit perfectly. Now thinking on selling them and going to something different. If you think you might be able to use these give me a call at the shop I work at and I can give you the details then. Here is the number at the shop. 520-790-1885 Mon-Fri 7:30-5:00

Last I knew, American Racing still sold them. I have a pair that have a 2 3/4" backspace on a 15x8, and they are American Racing brand. Check at a local tire and wheel store if you are looking for 15x8's. I bought some custom ofset wheels thru Early Wheel Company, they made a set of 15x6's with a 2 3/4" backspace for me, without actually reversing the wheel. www.earlywheel.com (http://www.earlywheel.com) Good Luck

if you want the best set you could possibly buy, look up Lukejivetalkers classified he has an original 1950's set. I have never seen better and they are pretty cheap

I've been noticing that a lot of the chrome wheels around here have the dual lug pattern... who makes 'em with single patterns??

the wheels with the dual pattern aren't really (traditional) chrome reverse wheels, they are known as "smoothies". the only way to get real chrome reverse wheels is to have stockton, or another wheel company make them. they use oem centers, and change the rims. of coarse, if you are going for a traditional '70's look, the smoothies are fine.lol. http://photo.starblvd.net/~deuce/1-2-1.jpg these wheels came from stockton. i also used their merc. caps.

The ones Pakrat had were aftermarket ones,,dual/unilug pattern and perfect if you wanna run the center caps/babymoons. The ones on his truck now are the real deal ($$$) and I believe from Mooneyes/Wheels of Steel.
But if you got the money the ones Luke has would be top choice to me...

Dirty's right on the money. Mine were bought from Moon, but came in "Wheels of Steel" boxes.
They cost me around 650 if i remember correctly.

Mercman, glad yer happy with them smoooothies!

I got mine from eBay. I only paid $20/each. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif They are some old original ones and I'm running Cal Custom snub-nose spider caps on them (eBay, $20). I didn't expect to find them so cheap, but if you look around, you might get lucky.

I need a set for my Futura, and those take a 4-lug pattern, so I am going to have a set made. Thanks for the input on vendors, guys.

thanks for the kind words. when i ordered the wheels from stockton, they said "no problem", well for about five months they had problems. at the time they were the only ones doing these wheels and it was worth the wait.

My pal wanted Chrome Reversed wheels. We ordered 5 Chevy style Milner specials from Stockton. They don't do reversed, but they did make them to the width and offset we wanted. About $100 per wheel shipped to Houston.

Well, they took about two months. And, the chrome was really bad - really really bad. Had to send two of them back, but to their credit, they quickly evaluated them, realized they were bad (duh!) and sent two new ones that were acceptable.

The car sat for six months outside, then for a year inside. The wheels held up pretty well, but some minor rust did pop up. Looks like they are using two layer chrome - no copper, just nickel and chrome.

If someone else makes a better wheel, on time, without costing an arm and a leg for a set, I'd like to know.

I got some from Pete Paulson.

DO NOT BUY ANYTHING THING FROM THEM.

They took a couple of months, I wanted ford pattern only
not the unilug. They didn't use ford centers.

They did make the chrome nice and the offset right

BUT THE WHEELS ARE OUT OF ROUND.

I went to balance them and they were almost a 1/4 out of
round.

So I called them and they said there wheels can't be balanced on the regular wheel balancing machine.

BECAUSE THE CENTER HOLE IS NOT CONCENTRIC TO THE RIM

WHAT? ARE YOU SERIOUS.

yes they need to be balance on the vehicle.

Major pain in the ass. These things are still out of round
even on the vehicle.

So they want me to ship them back on my dime even though
it is there fuck up. Then since this is all on my free time
after work or weekends it has been over a month of dicking
around.
And they won't take returns on stuff after 30 days.

So I put the closest to round on the front and run the
worst ones out back. they vibrate pretty bad and the
more I drive them the more I am getting sick of it.

As far as I'm concerned I won't buy anything from them
ever again. and I would not recomend having them make
your reverse.

After thinking about this today, there was a few probs with the ones i got from Moon.
The set on my '32 are really nice. the chrome is great, and they balanced out fine, but one of my rear rims didn't have a valve stem hole drilled in it..
I know thats not that big of a deal, but i called them anyway to let them know..
"can't you drill it?" was what i got..
Well, i did, but i shouldn't have had to.

the other problem is one of the rears on my truck isn't "true". It has a slight amount of run-out, and looks to wobble alittle bit at higher speeds.
I don't feel it, but it's there..

There are a few places that make them, but it seems like the quality isn't top notch like you'd expect for what you pay.

I was thinking of putting chrome steel's on my '53, but these i'm gonna make if i do.

My dad could make them for you, we could use oem center and could make them true reverse if thats what you really want. Of course taking the time to get them chromed is the part that makes the wait so long. We could have some smoothie wheels out to you in a couple of days, but with the oem centers it could take like 6 weeks. Or you could wait a while until we get our new rims in with the old style tapered outers, I think the look of those is a lot better on a reversed rim.

Not trying to support pete paulson or anything but on a lot of older OEM wheels the center hole isn't cocenteric with the lug nut holes. On aftermarket it shouldn't be a problem though. We use to restore tru-spoke wire wheels and the reason we stopped was because we were getting so many complains about balancing because tru-spokes are way off. Buick wire wheels are also really far off. Lots of the new balancers have an adaptor that balances from the lug nuts instead of the center hole, so they solve the problem.

This thread got my old brain started. In the 60's (graduated in 65) first thing we did on every car we bought was go to some parts store on broadway in sacto., cant remember their name and buy a set of chrome reverse 99.95 (4 wheels) and baby moons 9.95 (4moons). Always had em in stock, any size. Boy times have changed. Mark

Just to let you guys know Wheel Vintiques 10 series smoothie are a unilug, 10 holes:( But they do come with a moon style center cap.

When I called about reverse back spacing for my rear wheels they said it whould take a week longer and like $10 or so dollers more.

Hope this helps.
