View Full Version : O/T Chicago Guys??
Thinking about going to a show in the 700 block of south Wabash. And there is a hotel that looks real close 500 block of south Michigan(Congress Plaza Hotel). Anybody know anything about the hotel and the area? How are they?
Thanks

Hey Ron,
The area is topnotch. The Congress is right on Michigan ave. across from Grant Park. You'll be able to see the renovated Soldiers Field from there. The south Loop has gone under a major overhaul the last 10 years. It's quite nice.
What show and venue are ya going to? I work very close to the area and can scout out whatever your needs are.

Ron, you can stay pretty much anywhere downtown near the loop and get where you need to be easily via cab.

The SOuth Loop has undergone a lot of changes over the last 10 years, but it's still dicey at times. 700 S. isn't bad now and the Congress is a nice hotel. They have a lot of conferences there... I've been to a psychology conference and a tattoo convention there!
Thanks
We are going to Buddy Guy's Lengends club. Buddy is going to be there pretty much the whole month of January.
Can you get a cab around there at pretty much any hour of the night? I just seen in the Yahoo yellow pages that the Congress Hotel was close to Buddy Guy's place, and the gave it three stars.

Yeah, you won't have any trouble.
I went to Ball State, so I can tell you from your perspective, it may be a little creepy down by Buddy Guy's. But it's fairly tame for Chicago. Just keep check on your surroundings and you'l be peachy king.

Ah, Buddy's place. As traditional as one can get nowadays. You'll be just fine, Ron. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif
Thanks guys, wife is not to crazy about going. I have seen Buddy before but never in a club type setting. I have a bunch of Buddy Guy bootlegs(as with everything I can buy on labels) some from Legends and he seems a little more free in the clubs. Wife also says I'm obsessed http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif.

Hey Ron,
Tell the wife not to worry. That joint has great audiences that are serious about their Blues.
Just being in there and seeing all the neat stuff hung here, laying around there is worth the trip.
