E&J's are becoming passe and Guides are SO OUTMODED since they're available at every swapmeet, and corner antique store for five and twenty five dollars respectively. I found these cool buckets locally. Anyone seen them before and can you tell me what they were originally used on? I found this picture of a Hudson with them - but no year or model for the Hudson. Lettering on the top says "Depression Beam Headlamp" Looks like the lenses were flat so that should make fabrication easier if I can't find originals.

Those are pimp!
Have you searched for some Hudson owners group to see about availability of lenses?
I wonder if you could score some old flutted street lamp lenses and cut and grind them down to fit?
I think just flat/clear glass would look cheesy and ruin it.

If I could score some originals that would rule but I imagine they're spendy - don't know yet. If not I'm probably going to make some sort of (vertically) fluted lens. I have it worked out, but I'm going to wait and see what I can dig up first. I already have a few emails from people wanting to buy them. WTF?
Grim,Those are really cool, those will look good on the rod your building.--TV http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cool.gif

Woah dude! You are the crazy headlight finding Mo-Fo! Those things are cool. Didn't you say you got a set of LaFrance, too? You could put those Hudson lights on the roof and have a traditional "hunting" vehicle or something! http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif
Seriously, sweet find man!

I had some LaFrance lights. But that's about all I had at the time. So the choice was to have a desireable set of headlights, a frame, and some other misc. parts to look at for a long time, or FINISH a real live hot rod in the next year. I turned those headlights into a Merc flathead, a top loader and some other needed hardware really fast.
Those headlights and the amazing generosity of a few people here have made things happen more quickly than it could have otherwise. Bruce Lancaster,TV, and choprods deserve some special recognition there. I don't want to turn this into a group hug or anything, just thought some more thanks were in order.
Hope I find some lenses.
