Back in 2006, I joined the H.A.M.B. and tried unsucessfully to get signed on for weeks. A month or two later I decided to try again, but by that time I had lost my login information.
Fast forward to today. I was talking with one of my best friends Ray ("Rayford' on this forum and we got to talking about first one thing and then another and he told me about a 32' he just sent home to Tudor also on here. I decided to try again and see if I could get everything up and going. Holy Ashtrays Batman!!!!!!!! I'm finally in and allowed to meet the masses.
This couldn't have came at a better time.....
On March 21, 2010, I was on the roof of my house trying to secure a tarp
left by my roofer before a toad strangler flood hit. I got my 28' foot ladder out and got a hold of the tarp and was pulling it over the peak when the rain started. After getting it pulled where it needed to be, I started back down. Then my hands slipped on the wet tarp. I slid about 25' down the slop of the roof and then fell 24' to the concrete drive!!
Once I was safe and sound on the ground, I realized that I counld not move my left leg. I had broken my left femur in 3 places, double shear fracture on my pelvic bone, L5 vertebrae fracture, broken tail bone, torn
quadricep muscle, torn rotator cup(?) muscle and ball of hip bone broken off. After my surgery(7 hrs), I now have a rod from hip to knee to support the femur, a plate holding the lower part of my pelvic bone together, a handfull of 1" screws holding the plates, rods and bones together and 2-9"
screws holding the top of the pelvic bone together with the L5 vertebrae.
If I can do it I might just have a picture for my avatar????
I want to say with all seriousness, I'm thankful to be alive and recovering well. Without the prayers and help from my family and friends and God's help I wouldn't be here!! I'm at home now and can't put weight on my left leg for at least 3 months. They say it will be at least 6-8 months before I can go back to work, so I need all the diversions I can get. I've kept up with the H.A.M.B., but just haven't participated until now.
I'll be posting and asking a lot of questions......So just get ready and have patience with me.
thanks
Jeff:)
