Stock the '35, '36 bodys are way too tall, unless you want the jallopy look,

deffinately toss the '36 grill..

Good luck. You can't just take off the fenders like the earlier Fords and expect it to look good.

Here's mine...

You'd have to make a much bigger hood side to fill the space if you're running a hood. Then there's the grill top to deal with. And the back end is way longer. The reason the earlier cars look good fenderless is the back is short. Not saying it can't be done, but to make it look good would be alot of work.

Yeah, post a pic of yours Paul. It turned out bad ass. I think it's harder to make the Ford look as good in that style.

I have to agree, 36 Fords need fenders. One of my dream cars is a chopped 36 three window with the tail draggin'.

I agree they look alot better with fenders but I know where a pretty good shaped body in the dessert is and it doesn't have fenders, just wondering if they can turn out good before I buy it.

You could build it as a Modified left turn car for the street. Bob the tail to shorten it, channel the heck out of it. The grill could be topped with the front portion of the hood. But I do agree the 36 should stay full fendered but it's yours to do what you will. Just enjoy it and the heck with everyone elses opinion.

Here is a pic of mine that I no longer own. It was channeled 5 inches and ran a Chevy truck grill that I cut down. I was going for the jalopy circle track look.

FENDERS.

Can't do it Zibo... I am a fan of leaving '36 5 windows uncut. The only chopped one I ever liked was the blue one out there in CA. Dad is fit to be tied that I'm even putting flames on it (it was his first car back in '64)

Marty, that must have been one nasty coupe to have to use the sedan cowl!

Not saying it can't be done. Not saying it shouldn't, but dammnnn....the 36 Ford is the epitome of a beautiful automotive shape if ever there was one. And a lot of that has to do with the fenders. Much better as a taildragger than a fenderless rod.

If you HAVE to do it, it will need to be heavily channeled for sure to cure the massive gap above the wheels and to shorten the way tall firewall. Then you need to find a tasteful solution to the gap behind the rear wheels.

60s Style's mopar looks great, but I think the body on it does not have quite the same body line issues around the rear wheel as the Ford when the fenders are missing.

Maybe you'll be the guy to finally pull it off and make it look right, but....It will take some major surgery and a damn good eye.

Even then

Oh hell...it just makes my sphincter hurt just thinkin about it.

Well I'll go on record saying it probably shouldnt. I look at it like this- These days you're gonna be hard pressed to find something that hasnt already been done with some old car. Somewhere, someone has attempted this before. And besides the amount of work that it'll take to get it to look right, there is a reason there arent any around, you know? Not saying all the good ideas have all happened yet- there are still ways to make a car original or different than the rest of the crowd. but hey, if you pull it off , then my hats off to ya! -J.

I think the trucks look ok fenderless (when done right) But, I ahve yet to see a fenderless carr of this year look anything but akward.

The only thing that beats a 36 3 window is a '37 Lincoln Zephyr coupe, period.

Klazurfer, that where photoshop becomes dangerous. That almost looks enticing enough to try it. But in reality it would be tough. I've thought of giving it a shot to really see what it would take (in photoshop) but have yet to actually attempt it.

Here's a '36 version of everyone's favorite truck that I drew to try to convince Dad to make his project truck a little more radical than he is used to... He wasn't going for it though...

it may be only a matter of time...
I went to a shop in escondido,
hot rod hell,
and he chopped a '40 coupe,
without pie cutting the back half all up.
the majority metal shrinking.

As long as its done right.

have fun

HA! yeah, that thing was NAILED HARD. all that shits just a conglomoration of shit out behind a buddy's shed. you should see INSIDE. the 41 chassis is awesome, some dickhead pulled the body off for a "pro shtreet" frame.

would be a neat little shop tour for you chicago guys if you stop. A roadster on deuce frame, 32 5 window, 34 truck, 27 phaeton, etc etc done traditional. the roadster has been on the road since 74? was at the first nationals. flathead powered that has had EVERY form of induction you can imagine on it at one time or another. looked coolest blown.

shop is amazing. from the ancient louver press to all the flatheads on stands. every flathead intake you can imagine. franklins just layin around. older guy, SECRET stash.

heres a couple pics that are off topic for this post, but not off topic in general:
