Hey there, my name is Erik and I own Left Coast Diesel in Concord, CA. I have been hot rodding stuff my whole life, but never have I jumped into something so nutty as this car. My other rides include a 12-second, 670hp Dodge Ram 2500 Diesel, a 1995 BMW with an LS2 shoved into it for Autocross competition, and an '87 BMW 535is, that I am selling to help further my new project.
I wanted a land yacht that could run 12's and get 30mpg, so I picked up a solid 1967 Chrysler Newport Convertible. This way I could keep in in the general Mopar family.
I put up a blog if you want to check it out: http://rattlerod.blogspot.com
In the 3 weeks I have had it, we managed to strip it down, convert it to front-steer/rack and pinion, cut the firewall and get the motor/transmission in there, build motor mounts, customize a radiator and get the floor pans all done. I found a set of 69 300 disc brakes, and a badass set of Vintage Wheel Works wheels from a fellow HAMB'r.
This seems like a cool place with lots of great info, so I am looking forward to getting you know you folks

Thanks guys. I know this ride is a little newer than most here, but its different and definitely a jalopy.
The Dodge is 6400# (2wd, quad cab). Best is 12.71 at 115 with a 2.1 60' time...can't hook it up. 676hp on fuel and 831 with a little spray bar. Gets 20mpg to and from work, too. I do love diesels!

Got a ton more done this past week. Fab is out of the way. Engine is almost ready to go back in. Figured out how I am going to deal with the dash. We are rolling.

Finished the fab work this weekend, got the top working right, figured out the 9in. rear and got the windshield frame cleaned up. Toying with the idea of doing a mild chop..since I'm there...

Hey Newbie !
Welcome.......please post your build notes over on the main board as this is for your introduction. Not being a hard a$$ just trying to make you aware of how this thing works.

Glad to have the young guys aboard !!

Sorry I'm not cool enough for you guys. A 43-year old car ain't exactly new. I like the HAMB because people are doing oddball projects and tend to be more creative than most. Since I am not lowriding my car or resto-modding it, this seemed like the place. Kind of the Island of Misfit Car Guys.
