As in the one that ran into the bulldozers at the end, or the "doubles"? http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

the one that hit the bulldozers wasn't the same car.
the hood was wrong and so were the wheels...
naw, i was more curious on where the unwrecked car(s) ended up..

Try snooping around the mopar bb's. I sure someone there would know. If it wasn't such a freakin' mess, I'd search my dads Mopar magazine collection, I am pretty sure one of them just did an article in the last couple years....

Unless I'm mistaken, one or more of the Challengers is owned by a guy who collects all things Vanishing Point. On a related note, the Challenger from the sequel or remake that had Jason Priestley in it is in Floyd Garrett's musclecar museum in Sevierville, Tenn.

I wanna know what Cotton Werkman's been up to the last fifteen years.

I wanna know what's happened to all the Buterra cars we salivated over when I was in school.

I wanna know what's happened to Gymkahna or Autocross competitions at street rod meets.

The car that was wrecked at the end of Vanishing Point wasn't a Challenger...it was a CAMARO!!

(I thought everyone knew that! http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif)

Even back then, Camaros were expendable!!!

Yea Hack, they probably couldn't get the Mopar to start. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I'm definitely a Chevy man but I'll be the first to admit that we could stand to lose a few more Camaro's.'67 to '69 Camaro's are about like 'glass Duece's, seems like everybody and their Dog has one...

Yup, that'd be me. And just try to get me to part with it... ever. My Camaro is every bit as traditional as any car on this board, it's just trad to a somewhat later era- about 1969. But those are the years my Dad was most active in the hobby and where all the good stories come from. The way I hear it is that by 1965 the only guys running prewar cars on Woodward were poseurs who wouldn't race because they knew they didn't have the traction - just like the big-block Mopars, come to think of it.

Gather up all those 67-69 Camaros you wanna get rid of and send them my way. I'll be more than happy to take them off your hands.

I've got a '68 Camaro... with a 4 speed... I'm not really a big fan of Camaros but I found the car I have in such a good shape here in Holland, I just had to buy it... I put the 4 speed in it... And I'm starting to like it more and more... I almost sold it a couple months ago, but at last the deal didn't go trough... And somewhere, deep inside, I pretty happy afterwards, that I didn't sell it... Those cars are getting worth huge amounts of money here in Europe!

Slicks make all the difference. That's hardly a real street car, Woodward cruising notwithstanding. We're talking late sixties street tires here.

This car was on display the the '03 WDC/Blackout in the Chrysler area. There was at least one other GTX that also claimed to be THE car out there that day.

Am I understanding you to say that you don't think that the Silver Bullet was a real street car? I guess that you need to define what a street car is... That is a bad ass car that kicked many a bad ass cars asses, "back in the day." I must be missing something http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif I guess that Tom Hoover must not have been a real "street racer", or Jimmy, the guy who drove the car, or John Delorean whenever he took a "prototype" Pontiac out to "cruise" or... or... or... http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused.gif http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused.gif

I read a few months ago that Chrysler was so pissed that the movie had nudity and drug scenes they refused to allow "CHRYSLER" in the credits (Can someone check to see if thats true?) and also demanded the cars back after shooting...then had them crushed! http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/shocked.gif
Who knows! Sounds possible!

Just wanted to say that Fat Hack is right about the car hitting the Shovel being a Camaro, but I think at least one of those Challengers got some beating too. I remember a pretty rough race with a weirdo in a junky Jag E-type.

the rest of you guys evidently have no idea about what i'm asking so i assume you're just trying to get your post count up..

I had a long retaliatory remark, but I read my signature, and took it's advice.

I guess my suggestion about looking on the websites or in older mopar mags was too hard for you. I am sorry for that.

Good Luck in your quest. I hope you find more cooperative people elsewhere.

OOPS, one more post for me. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

hey rocket, it wasn't directed at you but now that you said something, let's see, uhh, i have no idea what a GOOD mopar board would be AND,(pay attention here everybody)being the fng there, would anybody tell me anything or would i have to put up with bullshit until i had 3 billion posts?

got OTHER things to do than rack up posts or read about tatoos, crist, i get scarred up enough at work to INTTENTIONALLY do it to my self...got no prob if somebody else gets 30 of 'em, i'm not the one that's gotta live with 'em.

but wtf do they have to do with hotrods?

aw, what the hell, i'm in a shitty mood tonight but dammit, my wife is still here, the dog and both cats are healthy, i don't have to move, i can sleep well knowing that in my e-mail box there will be spam that can help me make my dick bigger and harder AND get me bigger tits, too!

Ok, try
www.moparchat.com (http://www.moparchat.com) or
www.moparts.com (http://www.moparts.com)
or if ya feel particularly lucky, try the looking up the Mopar Action magazine website... my wife is sleeping (and pregnant) so I ain't gonna dare going into the room to look for the magazines http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif
That's where I'd start, and if that don't work, I dunno...

No hard feelings,

Try the message board at Hobby Heaven.

http://www.modelcarkits.com/

Yeah, it's a model car board, but most of those guys are Mopar fanatics and movie trivia gurus. They might be able to help you out.

Jackie built a cool diorama from the movie...and she knows her stuff about the cars.

(Yes, I do have a remarkable grasp of the obvious, don't I? http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif)

I think I see where we ran afoul here. I wasn't calling the Mopar's poseurs. They, like the big block Camaros, just had traction problems when they were actually run in street form. I still really like them. That GTX may even have hooked up on street tires, being as it was a mid-sized car. I think the trouble lay more with the ponycars like the Challengers and Cudas. I apologize if you think I was ragging on them. I like old-school hot rods too, I was just trying to make a point... on zero sleep in 20+ hours, I might add.

As for the Vanishing Point Challenger? I heard they wrecked so many Challengers Chrysler wouldn't give them another so that's why they had to dummy up the Camaro.
