I'm in the process of building a 500" caddy motor and was wondering if all GM distributors are the same or if caddys only fit in caddys, thanks for any info....

i think caddys are by themselves, but you should be able to change from the 472's to 500's and maybe the 425.
Check out Performace Distributors (http://www.performancedistributors.com/gmssdui.htm) .

I would just get a HEI out of a early-mid 70's Cad. I think the 472/500/425 are all the same, not sure about the earlier ones. If you are building for performance, have it recurved for your engine.
HEI is easy and reliable. One +12 hot wire hook-up and it's ready to go.
All GM distributors are not the same. You need a Cadillac dizzy.
