I sold some suspension parts to a fellow in Germany on Ebay & he wants to pay with a wire transfer to my checking account. Says he needs my checking account#, routing#, bank addy, swift#. Have any of you done this? Can I get burnt by them pulling a draft instead of a transfer? I'm feeling a little funny about this. Any advice from Euro-HAMBers who've bought parts from the states? WWS

Tell him to send an international money order or NO DEAL! that sounds bogus to me.........I also sold some stuff to a fellow in Denmark.....I was paid by Paypal- but when I sent it by US POSTAL SERVICE- I was suprised that they couldnt make him sign or pick it up himself!he could have done a chargeback later and I WOuld have been out....it all worke good as I told him to personally pick up the package and sign which he did.

He can send you $$$ by Western Union as their offices are worldwide. It is a no problem deal that I've used several times. You pick up the $$$ at any Western Union office or agent that are in most cities in the US. Max

jep westen union is good for this - I payed a lot with WU here in austria and there were no troubles - it's expensive for him but if he like stuff from you he has to to pay this in my opinion - (or paypal of course)

I have done both. When you do a bank wire, usually $15.00 or so is always missing, usually it's the bank in between, and nobody takes responsibility. Since you don't know the guy, I would be reluctant to share your bank info after all the Nigerian horror stories. I vote for Western Union...

I would use Western Union electronic funds transfer or would have him pay by bidpay.com which is a part of Western Union.
Bidpay costs you nothing. He would pay bidpay by a credit card and bidpay sends you a Western Union Money Order by the US mail. I would be leery of giving someone in a foreign country that much bank info to do a wire transfer.

Certified check or Money order.

Be careful. I do a lot of international deals with bikes and bike parts. I used wire transfers a lot without any problem but there's a bunch of scams going on so I don't anymore. Yes there is a $15.00 charge for the transfer, taken out of the recipient.

If you get a certified check make sure it clears before shipping.

Waiting on a cashiers check for an E350 School bus I just sold to Europe.

As someone else said point him to www.bidpay.com (http://www.bidpay.com)
it costs him about $4 ( more if its for a larger amount) so cheaper than a wire transfer. They bill his credit card in USD and convert it to a western union money order which they mail to you. Thinking of using this with a part I want from the US. Failing that you could set up a paypal account and negoiate their charges with him.

i payed for some stuff with transfer, worked fine for me, can go online and send the money directly from my internet bank account, aswell as paypal or bidpay is doable online.. i sent once with western union directly and found ot to be quite expencive and well i had to lave the home to do it http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif

i sure prefer paypal or transfer and in last case bidpay and in worst case western union (well it works but its not as convinient as the other alternatives)

I would talk to your banking institution about the security issue. I'm sure there would be no problem with the transfer. These go from bank to bank. He is SENDING, I don't think the bank will let him withdraw from your account. If it wasn't a secure transaction, or if there could be a breach, your bank will tell you.

I have done this and have had no problem, but if you have qualms about it go the Bidpay way.

He should have no problem with that.

We(Germans)use bank wireing alot more than you Americans,
so it's our first choice. The Informations he need from you are "normal" for International bank wire.
I would use Western Union too, as an International Money Order is just a cheque in a regular envelope ......
I problems with that recently...

I have bought some cars from the States , and the sellers wanted me to Wire-transfer the payment. They sendt me their bank-account#s`+++. Can`t belive professional US-Car-dealers would have done this if there was a way to scam them with that information in hand .
OR.., Do as Choprods said = Money-Order . Bit like "Snail-Mail" , But safer than most !!
BTW ... What you NEVER should do is buyin`stuff on the net with your credit-card . Your password ain`t as secure as you might belive !!
And .. When I sendt the payment by Wire-Transfer I could choose who should pay what , so I just made certain` that all exspenses was on me .
