If it is on a sled your hood will be closed most of the time anyhow , I say run it . you have it already , why not . the worse thing that could happen is you get sick of it and hang itup in your garage !

A friend of mine in the Auto Butchers has a chopped candy red '49 Mercury. I've known him an his car for over a Decade and I have NEVER seen the car with the hood open. That's a Kustom.
A "real" Kustom don't have the hood open unless it's parked on the side of the road, and then you just see two legs and a butt because it's gettin fixed.

tred look man if you want opinions on your ride post a couple of picks. then everyone will know what your working with. it dosn't matter what it is. there are some really knowlegdeable customizers on here that can help point you in the right direction. they will help you with how to do things also. but the bottom line is there are no rules to customizing or hot rodding. so you can do what ever you want to do. but if you go outside the norm get ready for some ribbing.

Before you read this and get bent out of shape, I prefer traditional rods. Early sixties and older look. American torq thrusts done to death and maltese crosses or surfer crosses are not in because everyone has them. Check your cars guys. Radirs, whitewall slicks, steelies, flatheads, toploaders, now there is some real original equipment. We are so busy using the rite parts all the cars are the same. Billet in reverse. You can only use these parts to be cool. Build it the way you want it and f the world. If they don't like it they can buy it and change it. Hot rodding used to be about making your car different, looks or power wise, not cookie cutter cars. My 2 cents as if it matters.

i have some kickass ideas that i'll post pics of in the spring when they're done, and 'f' the world if they don't like 'em, but this air cleaner thing was buggin' me. usually, if you are uncertain about something like this, you should avoid it. i'm avoiding it because i see it's all over the place and just plain dumb.

i have a deranged enough sense of what is cool and not cool, that i would probably use it on my carb, then take a pic of it in use, have it transferred to a t-shirt and add the slogan " "AIR CLEANERS FOR LIFE" " as a really obscure slap in the face to all the store bought custom chopper dudes.
