Mike, your wife's paintings are GREAT! I'm slow and learning, but I have a lot of fun and that's what it's all about for me. Hack that I am, I now have a guy with an early 70's big block Mustang, a guy with a Triumph bobber and another with a brand new Harley bobber wanting me to paing something on their rides. well heres my first go at an artpiece... its made from old headlight bucket, trims, fuel pump, draw knobs, $6 canvis shoes, its 12v and the purple/blue light radiates out through the perspex edge. Also 2 red leds under the fuel pump for eyes, and the last red led know one really took any notice of but its just the right place! ......."Classic spacewalk" I called it ....... I did enter it in a local art contest with plenty of interest shown........, the walk was inspired by an old robert crumb "keep on truckin" sticker......hope you guys like it.....cheers, Bert

Tim, I think I'm going to steal your jewel case idea. I've been using $1 8x10 frames.
George, I assume that's a bowling ball? I always see these striped pins. It just occured to me that I should try striping some bowling balls. A thrift store in my area sells them for like $3. I've bought a few because everytime one of the guys gets married we have to fab up a shackle and make a ball and chain for him. Let me tell you from experience, when you're bachelor-party-drunk, it's fairly difficult to drag a bowling ball shackled to your ankle and padlocked in place. But strippers think it's cute.
The cool thing is the thrift store balls often have some personalized name on them like "Marjorie" or something. Most are black but some times they have some nice swirl pattern colors too.
My wife will be thrilled to see me carting home a half dozen bowling balls after work today. But, if she's not going to let me stripe the kitchen cabinets, she's going to have to make some other compromise.
As always, everyone's work has inspired me to goof off all weekend.

I know this isn't really hot rod or trad, but my daughter drew this earlier in the week and it's so cool I had to share.
She's been oddly attracted to Rob Zombie even since she was a toddler. She used to carry the CD's around with her kissing them. Here's her "Rob Zombie" art, I LOVE that she made "bloody" fonts! She's 7.

well, i was'nt gonna post any pics of this till it was "done" but seeing all the great art you guys posted i just had to be involved.
it's my 50s Norge (by Borg Warner) refridgerator. i got it one weekend why visiting Levis Classic. it was working and it was FREE!
well, i have a STUPID amount of labor into this thing. 30 hours of striping, priming, and block sanding before i ever even mixed any color. i am NOT a painter AT ALL and i think i was holding my breath the whole time i worked on this thing. shading the flames and pulling off all that tape where the most stressful parts for me.
next wednesday Kritz will be coming by to do some pinstriping on it for me, then i'll clear it one last time before it is all buffed to a (hopefully) radiant shine.
let me list the steps i took for you: strip old (brushed on) paint and rust spots, prime with heavy fill primer, block sand, prime some more, block sand some more, add body filler to a couple large but very shallow dents and sand some more, prime, block sand, prime, block sand, paint black (base/clear), wet sand with a straight block and 600 grit paper, lay out flames, mask all but the flames, paint the base color (gold/green pearl), shade with a medium green (made by mixing the lighter and the darker greens together 50/50) then add details with dark green metallic, unmask, clean off tape residue from leaving tape on for a week and a half, spray with a "blending clear" (basicly clear base coat) then lay on the heavy clear. next will be to wet sand again, stripe, clear and buff (wetsanding first if neccesary).

Man, there's some great stuff on here this week. Llike there isn't anything good on other weeks . )
I got another Desk Top Art Work. This one is not done, work got in the way of my play time again. But it's close and I couldn't wait. This one is #32. It's about 8" long, 4" wide and 3 1/2" high, I think... The body will be welded onto the frame, and I think it will have both bumpers when its done, the hood lifts off. I might "open" up the grill, but it would be a pita, so probably not.
