Yes, there are hot rodders way out here in Kona.
Fact is, Hawaii is full of kool rides and has great weather to cruise in as well. I have a homemade site that covers all our fun every month. For a peek at roddin' and racin' in paradise - and a big load of my personal ramblings - check out http://www.hawaiimotorbeat.com/

My November '08 column speaks of how it all began... " I remember sitting at the back of Mrs. Castendyke’s math class in the late ‘50s, busily doodling cars in the margins of my workbook, when the unmistakable sound of of an unmuffed Ford flathead came drifting through the open windows and jerked my attention toward the road that came down from Dresser Hill past the school.

A stripped ‘28 roadster came into view and as the driver downshifted to second gear to slow his very homebuilt ride, the primered jalopy snap, crackeled and popped past the school. It was devoid of any polish or finish, making the exposed engine with three chrome air cleaners and whitewall tires on red rims really stand out.

I’d never seen anything as beautiful. Or heard anything as stirring to my soul. It was the ultimate American freedom machine. I wanted to be in that roadster, and out of math class, more than anything in the world".

And now here I am, on the HAMB. Oblahdee oblahdah.
