View Full Version : Swore at, insulted by my 2nd post. I'm good!

Only took 2 posts for Hot Rod to Hell to lay some lame words on me. His mommy must be proud.

Name is Rande, despite my mis-typing when I registered last year. Always liked hot rods, and old cars in general. I have a 1937 International D2 pickup that will be this summer's project. I also plan to talk a 1928 Model A sedan out of my brother. I also have a 1964 Kaiser Gladiator and a 1966 Mustang.

Looking forward to many more insults. I seem to attract those. Looking forward to getting some great ideas for the D2.

I guess I'll find them soon enough.

Thanks for the welcome 46 stude, rusty. I spent last summer working on the Mustang, getting it ready for this summer's Power Tour drive to Florida. This spring, I plan to begin work on the D2. Haven't yet decided what I am going to do. Small block Chevy and auto tranny are NOT in the plans.

My brother has a '40 Chevy pickup and is working on a '28 Jacob's pickup for his son.

It stands for "Fucking New Guy." (That's actually what it means. Theres no grey-area there.)

Hope this helps.

Nice to find sites dedicated to your hobbies. I really like the old style hot rods but most sites I have seen are full of billetrods.

That D2 is rather rare. It will make a nice crusin' truck. Let me guess. Rnade means nurses aide, right? No bio so I'm just guessing. Welcome from the grand and glorious foreign country of Texas.

Actually, Rnade means I can't type worth a damn. I'm trying to get that fixed. I did go in my profile and put in a bunch of stuff. When I clicked "save changes" it erased everything because it wants to require me to input my occupation. Until that gets fixed, there won't be anything in there.

I have family down in the Conroe TX area.

Put whatever you want in your occupation block. Nobody gives a damn what you do, and there's no way of verifying it anyway. Sheese...What, are you in the witness protection program? Put FNG as your occupation since it got you off on such a good foot to begin with.... Oh yeah, welcome.:p

You should be jealous though - I had a whole thread dedicated to how much one FNG "loves" me  But alas, it is no where to be found *sigh*

You should have used Jan. 8, 1932 as your birthday (Elvis), and Rock Legend as your occupation! There's no shame in lying to a computer; well maybe some; depends on the lie and who you told it to.

Thanks Loogy. There aren't many of them around that's for sure. Just try to find parts!

Didn't cost me a penny either!

Here's a link to a site that has a folder containing more pics of it. At that site, be sure to check out the North Dakota junkyard I found.

8ball, we heat the place with a knipco and by running around a lot. ;) We just got a heater for it. Its a gas heater that hangs up on the ceiling. This is the second winter without a real heater. We plan to hang it this coming weekend.

The shop is at the farm of a friend of mine. We ran out of money before we could insulate and finish the interior. We're getting to it a bit at a time now. Outside the shop my friend has a '48 Ford 4 door, two '47 Chevies (one fastback and one with the trunk). He has a '59 Caddy and a '39 Pontiac in the back of the shop. In the barn, he has a '53 Olds, a '69 Caddy 'vert, '68 Caddy Calais coupe, a '63 Caddy, and my International. Outside the barn in the old pasture, he has another '68 Calais coupe, a '65 Caddy and 2 '59 Caddy parts cars and my '64 Kaiser Gladiator. He has another '47 Chevy that he has yet to pick up and a '37 Chevy at the same place to be picked up. He's the guy with the money.........

FHPete, I took what he wrote the wrong way. It looked like an insult to me. Its always nice to be greeted with insults. Someone you don't know calling you a Fucking New Guy is generally not taken as a warm welcome. Its difficult to know when someone you don't know is being facetious. Folks here that know him better, have pointed out that I took it all wrong and I can see that. I have little patience with people getting in my face for no apparent reason. This misunderstanding was my fault. I'm not perfect.............yet. ;)

As for church, I have spent way too much time studying the bible to ever follow the teachings of my church (Luthern). They are so far offbase its incredible. During my confirmation classes, I pointed out so many false doctrines that the pastor quit calling on me to answer questions.

StevieD, what swap meet? What did I miss?

What's a 28 Jacob's? Have any photos of it?

Arthur, its apparently an old Isreali military truck. My brother is currently looking for the panel truck version also.

The name is pronounced Yawk (sounds like Hawk) Ubb. Not Jake ubb. This is according to a Jewish friend.

Here's a link to some pics of the hot rod under construction.

R & D, I'll give you a welcome, whatever initials you've got as a label. Actually, at 56, it's kinda nice to be a new guy at something-better than bragging you've got a Senior Member. You'll find this is one strange board-on the one hand there's an incredible amount of technical knowledge and how-to information, prayers and folks looking out for each other, relays to get parts from here to there and the HAMB auctions to support the board-never seen that anywhere else. On the other hand, there's quite a bit of sophmoric attempts at humor, some downright insults and someone keeps shifting every topic onto bagels and donuts. I finally figured out what all the intials are,but how you get from one level to the next seems to be on par with the Masonic mystery-I don't know how those with 3K postings find the time-must be better managers than I am. Just sit back, relax, learn when you can and have fun. If you really want deep insults and sophmoric humor, try www.whitehouse.gov.:)
