I've been on the forum for a good number of months. So I guess it's time to introduce myself. I'm a 59 year old motor head. I've been around race cars since I was about 14. I was a gofer at Cloverleaf Speedway for a few guys. I started drag racing at 15 at Dragway 42. I raced a 1965 Comet wagon called "Of Human Bondage". M/SA was the class. Military called in 1969. US Navy. Served in Vietnam 70-71, NAS Cecil Field Jacksonville Fl, then onto the USS Forrestal. While stationed in Jacksonville I drag raced a 1966 Mustang fastback. Crazy built 289/auto. Ran in the ET bracket classes. I also had a stock car at JAX Speedway. After military, sold both my Comet and Mustang. Stupid move! Really wish I still had the Comet!!!! Owned stock cars until 1981. Also worked on others asphalt and dirt stock cars. In early 90's I discovered winged sprint cars. Both WOO and Allstar Sprints. Now I've come full circle. I'm back drag racing with my 32 year old son. My 30 year old son helps when time permits. Known as Dupont Brothers Racing. We have a 1990 Mustang. 347 Ford motor, built automatic with a custom built Gear Star converter. 11.50's so far without any tweeking. This winter we lightened up the front end. We hope to run 11.30's. Once I get it dialed in, we hope to run high ten's. I also build model cars. So I especially enjoy Sunday Models! That's it for me.
