Think about those who are in the US Armed Services in Iraq, or unemployed, injured and/or sick. Many folks are old and on limited income/or no income. Many have no other person in their life.

I apolize for the O/T but feel it needed saying in the busy world we live in.

for all of you who live somewhere other than the USA and don't know about our Thanksgiving holiday, it's a day set aside for giving thanx for whatever we have; family, friends, faith, health, wealth, or whatever you're thankful for. we'll not get into the long-winded story of how it came about for now. i'm sure that some, possibly most, of you knew this already, but it's pretty balzy of us "yanks" to assume that just because we know or do something that the rest of the world must know what we're up to. it happens to fall on thursday, 11/27, this year.

anyway, whether or not you're an "american" (as we like to refer to ourselves; totally disregarding the other 8 north american countries and the 13 south american countries), i hope you take a moment occasionally to return thanx for whatever blessings you might have in your life. i've always thought it was a lot more important to be thankful for what i have than to wish for something i don't have.

i have lots of good friends, a few really close friends, and i'm in pretty good health. these friends are about the coolest thing i could have in my life. i'm not very rich in money, but i'm really lucky for living where and how i do and i'm thankful every day for it.

and now for the point: i hope you realize how lucky you are, too. whatever your circumstances, i'm pretty sure you have people who love you, people who you love, and lots of other things to be thankful for and i wish you would join us americans on 11/27 celebrating all the things in our lives worthy of being thankful for.

there are about five billion people on this planet, and i'm betting that at least three fourths of them would give their right arm to trade places with anyone here on the hamb. we do have reasons to be thankful.

You are correct ATCH . It is presumptuous of me to assume that everyone knows the holiday of Thanksgiving. As I sat here thinking of the past few months and the events that happened......I could not help but be Thankful for all the good things that have happened to me and my wife.

I had the misfortune of a car wreck in my 40, (I was rear ended)...the engine died in my 32 Roadster on the way to Louisville and I have had other medical issues. I am blessed because my problems are so minor compared to others.

A very good friend has just found out her mother has Cancer. A fellow rodder in my area has prostrate cancer. His wife was just informed she has tumors on her liver (Cancer). A good friend at work just lost his daughter in a car crash (hit by a drunk driver) and his son has been seriously injured in Iraq.

I have so much to be thankful for......

I have a great wife.......
My 82 year old Dad is doing pretty well....
I have good friends.....
My job is very secure...and I get to retire in less than 12 months....

I have 2 old Fords.......

I have a young Cousin in SeaBee training right now.It will be his first Holiday not spent with the family.

A whole lot of them will be eating their Thanksgiving Dinner with a little Sand mixed in...

My wife and I have experienced Thanksgiving when we were in the US on our Honeymoon. A couple of HAMBers, Skip Readio (desoto) and Joe Szafran (Szaf) invited us to come along and share Thanksgiving with them. We were in Miami Saturday and made it to Massachusetts by Wednesday lunchtime. Skip said YOU DO NOT want to be travelling anywhere near New York City on Thanksgiving Eve.

Anyway, getting to the point. Being Aussies, we don't do the Thanksgiving thing. Christmas Day is the big family get together down here. We had a great time with Skip and the Szafran's, they welcomed us into their family home, made us very welcome and forced so much food into us that we didn't have to eat for days! My wife even INSISTED on getting the recipe for the turkey stuffing, but Joe said it was a family secret, but after much persuasion, Joe finally gave in. So now we can enjoy roast turkey with the BEST stuffing in the world. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

I likewise have much to be thankful for. July 13, 1988 should have been the end of my life, I had an accident that day that put me in the hospital for 3 1/2 years (seven brain operations)and another year in a rehab. Wasn't supposed to be able to drive again or do anything more than getting dressed and eating three meals a day. Due to the skill of some of best doctors and hospital staff, the love and care of the worlds best wife, the prayers of people litterly around the world and the GRACE of God I function at about a normal level. The deficiencies that linger are not worth noting in the overall scheme of things.
When Thanksgiving rolls around in this house its true meaning is duely noted and observed.
My prayer for all of my HAMB family is that they will be similarly blessed and be able to find whatever it might take to overcome the trials in their lives.

How ironic............July the 13th, 2001 is the day I had a massive heart attack and was pronounced DEAD. It was a Friday......Friday the 13th.

Im a new [2-1/2 yrs]Grandpa -he's coming for a few days at thanksgiving!Also I am thankful for many things this year,including my many Hamb aquaintances- and friends and family in general...yes ,its all good......

This thanksgiving the family's fine for the most part so I'm mostly thinking about all those serving that won't be home for the holidays. Pressed turkey loaf with instant potato flakes washed down with bug-juice just ain't the same. Hang in there and be safe...
