I am helping a buddy with a 56 chevy truck. We got it running after four years of sitting. I think someone was planning a big block for it. It still has the 6, someone put power steering in it. It has a late model tilt wheel and the box sits on the outside of the frame. The tire hits the box when he turns right. He is intrested in an IFS conversion. Any one have a suggestion. Thanks Tim

ehy Elpo, i got to wondering, late model dakotas have 6 bolt wheels.
are you changing that on your kits somehow or are the early ones 5 bolt?

didn't get a chance to see what the bolt circle was on the dakota but if it was the same as 6 bolt gm, that might work out pretty well for someone that doesn't want to change the rear....

we concentrate on the 1986-1996 Dakotas. Considered first and second generation trucks and the rotors are interchangeable.

The third generation trucks (1997 up) are a completely different deal but will fit our crossmember. Suprisingly the geometry is the same.

the Dakota six lug is a bastard child, 6 on 4 1/2" and the only other vehicle on the planet with the same pattern is the Viper. The original RT10 Viper used some components from the Dakota, they don't anymore but do still carry the same oddball pattern.

IT would be possible to redrill the pattern on the Dakota rotors but you will need a confident machineist as there needs to be relief cuts on the backside for stud clearance.

You will not be able to use stock Chevy wheels! They will not clear any disc brake front end, period.
