View Full Version : Junkyard tours part deux
A group of us went junk yardin again today. We hit two of the yards close to me. The first had the best selection and we all took something home. I got a Wippet grill and rad and some hubcaps. Sawzall again took home the biggest pile.
We have no clue who this guy is!!!!
Clark
This thing would be cool brought back to life
Here's what the inside of the barn looks like
This was at the second junkyard. Check out the door handle. More pics tommorrow.

This was fun...those yards are pretty cool..the first was far better, but also more crappy to walk through. My legs hurt...must have put on another 15 miles i swear...but it was all worth it...i set of finned cal custom covers (thanks clark), a set of international covers, a gmc 6, some holley 94's and some miscellaneous junk...pretty fun...A definite again..ps. larry thanks for showing me the updated crib, you too clark.. thanks for everyone who showed up, was a blast meeting you guys, and look forward to doing again.

I missed another good trip! http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/mad.gif
We had 8-10" of snow up here in the great white north.
Roads were covered.
It takes me 5 hours on good roads to get there.
With my truck it would take me 10 hours in the snow!
Did that Wippet have fenders on it? I know someone who needs all 4.

Great trip guys! Had a blast! Look forward to the next one.
At the first yard I scored a complete set of '54 Packard Tailight assemblies. 20.00 each! sweet... Also found a spare tire cover that will make a great back fender for the chopper. I think the first yard was the best. The second yard is getting bulldozed into piles. Its sad to see a great old car four cars down on a pile. Saw a '68 GTO that way. Took a ton of pictures (mostly art farty shit). Lets see if I can remember all the names..

Assgasket (where do you find CBGB shirts?)
Nappy (The artist formerly know as "meanestlink"
Tokyo ( He was a big hit at the local convenience store..If I only had a People magazine for him to sign..)
Curtsix ( What happened to Action Girl?)
Who else was there? I know I missed someone...
After the second yard it was pizza at Scarry Larry's place. That place is art in itself. Nice job Kim. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif
I still can't figure out where to buy those DQ signs? I mean, where do you find a sign like that?
After Larry's it was off to the So-What shop.. Got to actually see a part of Clark's collection! Get to work on that Bubble Car (TM)...
Then back to Sawzall's and then home. Started my day at 5AM and made it home by 11;15PM.. Its a great kind of tired. Glad I got to see everyone before winter sets in and the winter projects begin..

Some parts of the first yard had thicker brush than an East German chick...
http://yourpage.blazenet.net/hepcat/jy12.jpg
Soooo much cheap stuff at the second yard it was like junk yard Disneyland...
http://yourpage.blazenet.net/hepcat/jy16.jpg
Think I'm gonna go back for this grill and hood, might be fun to try to modify it into something interesting... http://yourpage.blazenet.net/hepcat/grille.jpg

Oh, man. The whole day was mad clutch! I had a flippin' rip-roarin' time! I really appreciate the effort from those who put this together. I haven't been in a boneyard since, like, 'Nam. And I havn't been to yard that cool ever. Lots of good old shiz-nit! I had a great time, and now the WIFE is jealous! She wants to go to the next one. Guess I had too much fun http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif It was really cool getting to meet some other hambers; curt6, scary larry, assgasket, Nappy (I met him prior to the "great HAMB name change of 2003"), etc. One of the highlights for my year for sure...do I lead a sheltered life? http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused.gif Looks that way... I gathered up many new articles for the next installment of Rod-n-Keister after spending the day with these clowns http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/shocked.gif...Gotta thanks Larry and Kim for the hospitality. Thanx! Great place, btw. My day was really cool except having to haul Spike (aka hotrodphotos4u) and his queer ass all over the place. We had the two "lifestyle challenged" individuals with us, in Sawzall and Tokyo (aka Tom Green) which made the day interesting.? http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif What a fuckin' great day via weather. Couldn't axe for a better day. I had a great time and I thank you all for including me. I am looking forward to the next one...as long as you all believe I am worthy. Oh! And those Buick grille teeth will fit perfectly and they will look clutch! Clark, thanks a bunch for everything mang. <medie whore> Cool shop! I need you too school me in spraying PPG one of these days. Boo-yah! Droppin' plates nation-wide!
Well wotht he three herds of deer I had to dodge ont he way home.

Rob, I almost took that international grille shell. I should have...interesting. You obviously got there after me as the hood was wedged down in the engine compartment so I pulled it apart to see what was going on in the inside...Up Periscope! http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif You gots dibs Nappy. I can see it already; whoever is the first one without a hangover on saturday gets the grille! http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif Rock on brother Nappy!
(guess I won't be getting that grille http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif)

I knew I forgot someone... Good to meet ya. That first yard has to be hit up again. I only took two rolls there. Plus I just know there has to be more '54 Packard Clipper lights in there somewhere. I mean, only FOUR cars and only ONE had both tail lights? Come on..Must have been that thick brush hiding all the others.

Dang!
Sounds like you all had a great time. I wish I could have been there, but had other plans that I forgot about until my hubby oh-so-kindly reminded me late Friday night.
Such is life.
If there's another one coming up anytime soon lemme know and I'll try to make it. I'm getting ready to go full tilt in the garage on the weekends so I can finish my Vespa project this winter and do some things to my car as well.
Hey Curt, sorry I missed ya.. email me if you know of any stuff coming up in Baltimore.. you going to Night of 100 Elvises? I know some of the Karb Kings are going and can only assume you know them...

Yes, I saw the wheel Gayzall drug out. It was in really good shape but it was not the correct yer. The 46-48 were not tapered at the hub like the one Fagzall drug out. If he wasn't so straight I would try to date him...
Actually if you look at the pic (second to last) at the far right, tht is a 46 thru 48 column and wheel. Where the "F" was that? I didn't see it or I would have brought it home wiff me.

Definately had a great time... Everyone there was nice as hell...
I got to see evidence of some Scary "metal daze"... Total "Dio" mode...!!!
Larry, your place is fucking AWESOME...
I had fun hanging out with everyone... Spike was the king of "insulting price offers"... Sawzall, Larry, Tokyo, and Link gave me beer... Curt, Clark, and I tore through some of that East German bush to get to a Pontiac bumper... And just to add an element of dangerous fun, Clark took me for a hands-on tour of Krug's stacked monuments to Tetanus...
Hell, one guy found a fucking BOMB in a bus... 10 bux took it...
Whoever didn't make it really missed out...
Oh, and i pissed on a VW engine...

Yeah, that was a killer time. It was great hanging out with everyone. It can't get any better than hanging out and having a blast, meeting some new folks, a going home with a bitchin' poncho bumper, some trim, a killer new steering wheel, and a big goofy springer front end and STILL having 3/4 of the money I started with. Thanks again to Scary Larry and Kim for their hospitality and to Larry and Clark for showing us where the good shit was. Maybe if Clark gives me a hand getting to those shoebox doors I can help him retro fit those Chevy skorts onto his wagon.
