Cool pic. Just so the newbies and young guys know. You can't really use a chainsaw to chop a car. It is a joke guys. Chain saws don't cut, they rip. If you saw the damage cause by a chain saw it would scare the bejesus out of you. Oh, and axes don't work either. Chopping is just an expression. Nuff said.

FORDNUTZ, thats no joke. can't you see all the smoke from the chainsaw??? http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

bring on that Vicky, i'll cut it up!! hell why not a 32 B-400 while i'm at it http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/shocked.gif i've never been afraid to cut up ANYTHING, it's just metal, i can always weld it back together. you know how many brand new or nearly brand new vehicles i've cut up??? i channelled the body and smoothed the firewall on a loaded 2002 S-10 e-cab when it was only 7 months old. check out page 130 of the december 03 Street Trucks mag (on the shelves NOW) you'll see the art for that 97 Yukon i've been cuttin on for the past two years. it was a FULLY LOADED 4WD!!! now it lays on the rocker panels and has an all new frame under it. the whole interior has been gutted and it's been shaved clean as porn stars kooter http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif.. i like to cut em up http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif he he he...

And how far from the back of the quarter window to the back of the cab?
I want to rearrange the proportions on a 5 window Coupe in a similar fashion. Thanks.

top secret man. if i told you i'd have to kill everyone who read it and i don't have time to do that much killin http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

i took 21 inches out of the quarter window so it is 9" on the inside now. took 7 out of the panel behind the Q-window cause thats all i could get without it getting REALLY complicated (the curve and all ya know)..

ok, now everyone who read that has to kill themselves. i'd do it but like i said, i just don't have the time. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

remember the February 03 RnC?? ofcourse not... well my bro Jimmy Smith (JEEM on the HAMB) came up with this bitchin ass ride and i've ben collecting parts since 4 months before the mag came out. bout time i got started on the body. it should be done next summer. somehow! i'm runnin a 62 401 Nailhead with 6 Holley 94s, Radir wheels and rear tires (they are repoppin the old 12 spoke fronts), kustombuilt (Ionia Hot Rod Shop) 7 inch dropped I-beam axle and between myself, IHRS and my buddy Boyd at Curbside hot rod parts we're building a completely custom frame. the chassis will be super detailed and a testimate to the talents of all involved. i'm lucky to have such talented friends, JEEM included.

got most of the "easy" cutting and fitting done ont he back side. time for some detail work now. make stuff line back up PERFECT!! found out i'm gona need to widden the rear panel to get the sides to fit with it right. no biggie though. i expected to run into something like that (advantage of building it in your head for the past year). anybody got a rear panel from a sedan they want to sell cheap?? i hate to part out my other sedan body just to cut a strip out of the middle to widen this one. it's only got to be good for about 6 inches through the middle from top to bottom. a little rust at the bottom is no problem either. well, take a look at a few more pics.... might just go back out in a bit and chop it up some more. looks funny UNchopped don't it?? that'll be fixed soon enough...

boy, you guys want me to give away ALL the secrets don't you?? http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif Mr. Lesky at the Ionia Hot Rod Shop spent 30 some odd years as a die welder at Generous Motors and REALY knows his stuff. he is gonna build new I-beam ends and weld em to an old stock axle center. he has a jig for doing tube axle ends allready and did a 6" or 6 1/2" for a top secret project. he knows all about preheating and postheating and heat treating and all that jazz so i'm in more than capable hands. it would prolly be easier (and still really cool) to do tube ends on an I-beam center but i want to keep true to JEEMS artwork. but if anyone else wants one i'm sure he'd be willing to make one up for ya. email Hotrodrummer for details...

Great job on that body, Kustombuilder! In the early seventies I took 24" out of the rear quarter window of a 30-31 tudor. Was inspired by a 28-29 shortened in Canada that was in R&C annual.
I also chopped it 6 inches. I used a mustang fastback rear seat.
I never liked the fat panel behind the window and am glad to see you and the hammerart guys shortening that up. I wasn't going after a picup idea but wanted a bantam stlye car. Hope to see more pics as this comes to life.
Why don't you just fab a 6" strip of metal to fill in the back panel? I think the hardest part would be the window but you will have those pieces when you chop the top.

SUSPENSION and STEERING: the front spring (and prolly the rear as well) will be transverse leafs just like Henry did em. only lower and mounted suicide style. the steering is gonna be a nifty and unique design that Boyd came up with one day. you'll just have to wait and see it http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

as for HAMMEREDABONE'S question/comment: i just may fab the filler myself but it'd be easier to get the body lines PERFECT if i had a donor panel. a little less work and it'll definately match. i don't plan to use no stinkin bondo on this sled, just some heavy fill primer.
