This pencil drawing is of a suede painted '40 preparing to shoot it out at the break of dawn. Just like a duel in the old west! ( I guess I’ve been watching too many “Have Gun Will Travel” westerns lately!!!)

ewt2 - Beautiful work Ed. You must use a 6B extra soft lead or something. Does the actual art have as much contrast as the images do when posted on here? Something a little different from me this week. Some guys are posting work from their archives, so I made my own "old" art. Part of another job I did for a client, I created the weathered background with Corel and Photoshop, then for this piece I modified some of my hot rod line art to match the old blueprint look. http://i350.photobucket.com/albums/q426/McK_Racing/artwork/1932_CustomBlueprint.jpg

Awesome Show as Always Folks!

Here's what I got this week, Torque Fest Poster #4 (just when you thought it was done)

http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_7rsDpMt6SAg/S3MoUftvp4I/AAAAAAAAAjk/1Fjibq0VvHc/s1600/vtf_poster_no4_v2.jpg

Last, but not least is Toque Fest poster #4. This one is for the 'celebrity cars" at the event.

The Reverend Horton Heat's '50 Ford 'Big Blue Car', Ed "Big Daddy" Roth's 'Asphalt Angle' V6 Trike, Voodoo Larry's 'Voodoo Psychosis' '31 Ford and lastly Hot Rod Chassis & Cycles built 'Tangerine Scream' '33 Ford Pick-up. These on top of the poster #2 with the Barris Cars and The Roswell Rod; it's shaping up to be one HELL OF A SHOW! This doesn't even include all the home built beauties, Bobbers, Choppers and Hot Rods ripping up the dirt track outside. Oh yeah, and the bands! Too much to even think about right now.

There is going to be a very limited run on all four posters for the show being sold together as a collectors edition 11"x 17" on card stock, all signed and numbered, but you may want to be there to get your copies on May 1st. Numbers are limited (somewhere between 50-100 prints only) So make your travel plans now to head out there.

John, who's putting this on also mentioned that there are a few artists who were asked to participate in the WW2 German helmet painting to get in touch with him about their mailing address. He's apparently sitting on a few and asked me to spread the word about it. Speaking of which I gotta get on mine as well.

Interested in visiting the show on May 1st? Keep in touch with the show by heading to: www.vintagetorquefest.com (http://www.vintagetorquefest.com)

Here are my first actual coaster tiles I'm doing for Relay For Life in April. All are on 4x4 ceramic bathroom tiles:

Funny thing....I had three designs and needed a fourth. Just because I could, I counted the strokes on each side of my first three designs and all three had 16! So I just had to make the fourth one match!

ewt2 - Beautiful work Ed. Does the actual art have as much contrast as the images do when posted on here?

Mere photos and prints do not do Ed's renderings justice. Until you hold an original in your hand and study it for hours can you begin to appreciate the depths of Ed's incredible talent. Simply amazing! And when others question if they're holding a photograph, you need only tilt the rendering slightly to see the "graphite glare" and their jaws drop.

I can play this week. Tool box for the Fast Friends auction in Colorado. Little makeup pouch that went to a fellow HAMBer (I assume for his lady), and a leather jacket. I did a couple jackets for two brothers a couple years ago like this (Wakita OK was where most of the movie "Twister was filmed) and last week one of them called me to see if I could do one for one of their riding buddies.

You must be right, one vid' per screen... :p

Stealing the DS from your kids might also help you get your wacom back! And could be lotta fun to you! The screen of the DS is very small (so do the pen) but it's easy to get used to it and you can draw everywhere with it, at car shows for example... I can't wait the french car shows and the warmer days to come back! ;)

I sent Yvonne Craig an email asking about her Batcycle. She replied that the thing was so heavy, if it started leaning over too far, she had to drop it. I would guess that part of her problem was her costume's spiky little boots. That bit of trivia got me to thinking about designing a lighter, lower bike, but still using the 1967 Yamaha YDS-5E.

GV GORDON=RULER! Seriously, GV, thanks for the awesome toolbox for our auction. :D For any others contemplating sending something, the Winter Wipeout Swap Meet and Charity Auction is on March 6. We REALLY appreciate all the support we get from the HAMB artists and others who send stuff. We've already received a number of donations, and there are more coming all the time.:D

This week's FAS is awesome! The "old guard" is knockin' down the fences, and the newbies are drivin' right thru. I'm constantly amazed at the talent shown here week after week!:)

For those interested in donating art for the Winter Wipeout Swap Meet and Charity Auction (if you go to our website, you'll be able to see what we're all about), the address is;

They look great. What program do you use to create them?

Some of them were done in Freehand MX, some in Illustrator CS3/CS4 and I have done some in the last few weeks in InDesign CS3/CS4. All depends on what I am using it for, but they are all vector. Each programs has its strengths and weaknesses.

I had a wireframe shot of one of my pieces somewhere. I will see if I can dig that up and get it hosted.

Curious, do you start off with a proportional drawing or sketch or can you literally pick this outta your brain and onto the screen? Last weekend, I was diggin' Bugfink's Buickfied 50's Chevy pickup painting. I mentioned that I did something similar of a sketch of a Caddy-styled Chevy pickup. This morning, I got the pencil out and redrawed from a quick sketch. This drawing has elements from different 50's era Caddys. The grill is a stock '54 Chevy pickup with vertical bars(?) added to mimic a '50 Caddy's grill. This would be a cool build!
I look up to all of those who do concept drawings, not a easy thing to do. Especially when you're limited to a few reference pictures, and the rest is imagination. Then making it look right, man.
