Have you ever noticed that if you don't search prior to posting the same topic/question that has been posted before, you are criticized for not searching......
...and if you search and post to an old topic/question of interest, you are criticized for resurrecting an old thread.
Criticism, sarcasm, and mockery are part of the HAMB culture......this post is no exception....I'm just say'n.... :D
OK, now for my criticism tidbit......metalshapes, the people you are targeting won't find this post because they are not searching to begin with!

I am tuning my 6x2 holley 94's and am having an issue that I could use help with. I have searched and read ALL of the holley 94's posts on the HAMB that I could find, some of them 4 or 5 times (this has taken me many, many hours). The information available is second to none - very excellent.
However, I have not found any discussion of my specific issue. Because Holley 94's have been discussed so many times, I don't plan on posting a help topic as I'm sure that I will get flooded with "do a search" reponses by the peanut gallery......

I understand the intent of this thread, but...if somone has only been on the HAMB for a few weeks and had NOT seen the "55 rollover" thread, then how would he/she know to search for it?
Having someone freshly post a link allows those who have not seen the link, or wouldn't even know to search for such a link, the oppurtunity to view it.
I mean heck, if you spend so much time (not directed at anyone imparticular) reading the HAMB that you know a topic is a re-post, just skip by it. No one is making you click the mouse to open it up.

I agree that some stuff is viral and is reposted too many times. What gets me is the poor titles.
>>>This is amazing! Check these out! This guy's lucky! etc. <<<
Even if they have never been posted before, at least use descriptive titles so it can be found in a search later. The title should be descriptive, not a teaser...
If you have been here and done searches, you will know that you must have 4 characters so 34 and PU will not work. Spell out stuff in the titles so it can be found later (1934, pickup).

Just a suggestion: how about a sticky'ed thread at the top of the main page---"Too lazy to search? Here's some common threads we've already seen". Then use that thread to create links to overposted threads.
Or something like that:D It works on another site I belong too, helps keep reposts down.

the problem with that is that the ones that are guilty of what is being discussed here are not going to see the sticky even if were stapled to thier forehead.
what it means is that the moderators will have to keep opening, reading, judging and closing or deleting threads.

If the HAMB were divided into sections like ALL other forums it would be easier to read and I think, maybe you old hambers wouldn't bitch so much that you are seeing the same thing again if stuff was easier to find! just beceause you are tired of seeing the same old thing posted over and over doesent mean other people who are basicly new to the hamb know. Most of us have a life other than posting 8325 times on the hamb, I know how it is, I get tired of the same Questions on the mc forum I visit regularly the difference is there are thousands of members here and it's quite a jumble, a little organization would go a long way, there are too many members and too many posts to keep up with whats going on, frankly I'm sick of the hamb beceause of the crappy attitude of the old timers here, I really thought this was a cool place when I found it, it lost it's appeal to me. This has nothing to do with Newcomers or Users who have been here for years.
Its about the semi O/T ( or completely O/T ) fluff stories that people find elsewhere on the internet, and then Copy and Paste here.
All at the same time, so we have several of those going at the same time.

A real life example.....
I did a Google search on tuning for your 94'and a HAMB thread came up:

I hope this helps..

Like I said in post #66.
I'm only talking about the links to ( news? ) stories, that are for the most part lacking in Value.
And in Originallity.
( if they had any kind of originality, we wouldn't have to Delete that many Identical ones per day...)

I'd like to extend a "thank you" to metalshapes for this thread, it gives me a place to check when I'm bored and want to look for something weird... very helpful thread!

Yep.
And I know we'll be Deleting a lot of Treads with links to it in the near future.
Untill the next load of Off Topic bullshit comes along...

... but will it work?
Yes.
It does help a bit.
Because this will show up in Searches.
So eventhough this Thread pisses some people off, its worth it IMO.
Each item on the list has had many duplicate posts.
( sometimes we leave one undeleted on the Main Board, because that helps with Searches too )
And also, on this entire list there are only a couple of things that are truely On Topic.
