I have a 1961 GMC 1/2 ton 4x4 that my family purchased new - the V-6 is good for 10-12 mpg, city or hiway. The 6 does not have tons of power BUT they will easily last 250,000 miles before rebuild - ours has approx 315,000 miles with only heads rebuilt for burned valves....
