It's cold and damp outside; and it's bugging me.
So here's an homage to warm weather, cool chicks and hot rods!
Merry Christmas to everyone on the HAMB!

A hot rodders story of Christmas...
Every good thing given and every perfect gift is from above coming down from the Father of lights with whom there is no variation or shifting shadows.

Here's a commerical that a friend of mine made for the 2009 Grain Belt Beer commercial contest. It includes a few hot rods from fellow hambers. We could use your help in getting votes to win the commercial. The director gets some money and our car club would get a year supply of beer. The votes go from 1 to 10, 10 being the highest. Thanks for your help.
Here it is:http://grainbelt.com/contest_commercial_rate.php?id=14

I'm constantly amazed at the talent on this board! THANK YOU ARTISTS for sharing your talent and inspiration with the rest of us. :D
It's that time of year again.....I have a request. I realize you're all probably busier than hell, and probably get pestered all the time for donations, but figured it can't hurt to ask. I've already been in touch with many of you, and hope you'll forgive the duplication of posts.:o
You may remember that I am the founder of a Charity called FAST FRIENDS here in Colorado, in a really poor area of the state. We raise money to help out the families of terminally-ill, seriously ill or injured kids in this area. We use rod and bike related events to raise the money.
Our next event we'll be putting on is the 3rd annual swap meet , called the Winter Wipeout. It was a huge success last two years, due in large part to the auction we have every year. We received over one hundred pieces of original art, prints, panels, etc. from HAMB artists like YOU, Sinclair, Johnny Ace, Jeem, Tingler, Neal DeWitt, GV Gordon, Safariknut, flyingpolock, lockwoodcustoms, himjively, and many others.
This year, everyone donating auction items will receive a custom "Winter Wipeout Charity Auction " t-shirt as a little thank you. (That is not exactly what it will say, but it hasn't been designed yet, and I promise ir will be cool!)
The Wipeout will be on March 6, 2010. If you're not interested or able to help, that's cool. I understand everyone has to do what's best for their own situation. This is just something I feel I need to do. Have a great Christmas and New Year!:D
There are pictures of the donations from the last two Wipeouts at http://www.slvfastfriends.org
Thanks again!

This is not my art, but Jr. Huff striped up my El Camino this last week. The whole thing is boxed/paneled. I digthe hell out of the lines he laid down. Changes the whole look of the car!

We are adding an art show to Beatersville this year so if any of you folks are interested in putting a piece or two in just let me know. We are looking for Hot Rod inspired art, drawings, paintings, photos, and pretty much any other thing you can hang the "low brow" tag on.

I did this last week, but i forgot to post it over here.
this 2' x 10' framed wood panel had been laying outside my neighbor's studio for months, until he tossed it in the trash. I grabbed it with the idea of re-gessoing it for a painting, but the patina was so nice, I just used it as is.
There's a barber shop at Beverly & Normandie with an awesome hand-painted sign that I had been thinking about lifting for years, this seemed like the perfect project for that.
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/coop666/542834566/" title="L1130425.JPG by COOP666, on Flickr"><img src="http://farm2.static.flickr.com/1227/542834566_3a751d81c3.jpg" width="500" height="375" alt="L1130425.JPG" /></a>
I drew some quick and dirty type on graph paper, and transferred it to the panel, then painted it with One-Shot. I hadn't used any of the stuff for years, but oh man, that stuff lays down nice. The paint was thinned a bit to match the distressed surface.
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/coop666/4193204050/" title="L1060253.jpg by COOP666, on Flickr"><img src="http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4010/4193204050_3d43ba4e7f_b.jpg" width="1024" height="683" alt="L1060253.jpg" /></a>
The next day, I projected a section of the Wrench Devil face on the panel, and painted it as quickly as possible, trying desperately to make the paint run and drip as I did so. If you had any idea how fussy and anal I am about my work, you would understand what a challenge it is for me to be messy.
I left it to dry overnight, then came in the next morning and did some stencil work to finish it off.
<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/coop666/4193387851/" title="L1060275.jpg by COOP666, on Flickr"><img src="http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2708/4193387851_f071645245_b.jpg" width="1024" height="683" alt="L1060275.jpg" /></a>
I'm really happy with the results. It looks different from my other stuff, but is still recognizable (I hope) as my work. Best of all, i did the whole thing in three days, with zero planning!
