Hey, I've been lurking on here for the past couple of months. I've been dreaming the past couple of years of building my own rod since attending a "non-traditional" rat rod style car show. It was there I realized it was actually cool to build what you could with what you had on what ever budget you could come up with. Hopefully buy this summer I can get that budget thing realized and will be able to start searching for a project.

For the project I pretty much have my heart set on on 47-53 Chevy pick-up on an S-10 chassis. I was also wanting to find a wrecked late model Chevy truck and utilize the power and drive train in it. I know, I know, it my not be traditional what with an S-10 frame and late model fuel injected engine but tha's what I like about it. It should be smooth riding, with a engine that fires up and purrs with good fuel economy and emissions.

Anyways, in my lurking, and trying not to be critical, I've found this forum a little tricky to navigate. I've been and avid user of another forum called YZF600r.com. They have thier home page broken down a bit more. Here, it seems like a lot of the technical stuff is just lumped together. I would suggest breaking out a bunch of sub forums so guys and gals can post in the approriate forums. A possible list I would suggest would be:

Powertrain and Drivetrain
Suspention and Steering
Brakes
Electrical
Air Conditioning
Body and Paint
Fiberglass
Chassis
Ongoing Builds
Member Photos and Videos

Thust a though, thanks!

Hmmmm - Welcome to the HAMB.... 1st post and you are making suggestions to change things because you find it tricky to navigate.

YZF600r.com.. never heard of it - is that a crotch rocket sight ?

Thanks for the suggestions but we like things just the way they are as they are, so how about you take more time to learn how we do things around here as it is, and enjoy it's content of Traditonal Hot Rods and Custom Cars.

Things may change down the road but I don't think anytime soon so take the time to explore.

Thanks and welcome to the HAMB

"Hi, I only bought a ticket to be on this flight, but do you think you could go and really quickly paint the plane a different color? I like the color of the other airlines better."

i was just on the YZF600r site the other day and was thinking how much better it would be if it was layed out more like the hamb. i almost made a suggestion to the powers that be but decided against it. instead i decided to stick around and learn how to navigate what 80,000+ members have grown accustomed to.

Yeah, I had the suggestion we should be laid out more like this site...

What?

Ten minutes on that board and I couldn't remember how to get out of my own house.

Not bagging on the site, it probably makes perfect sense to those who frequent it.

Just as this place will likely make more sense to you as time passes....

Ok, ok...definitely see the point you're all trying to make. Hopefully I won't get my ass handed too me to much more and I'll still be welcome here in the future.

Really is a cool site thought, I've already learned a lot just reading threads and looking at pics. Hopefully one day I'll have my own project and experience to where I'll be able to make a valuable contribution.

To be honest, I thought I was going to get ripped more on the S10 frame swap!
