if this is too off topic delete it, but i've seen several threads looking for help on late models, We have some really good mechanics on here, and some of the best gearheads out there, would a small section to help fellow members having late model problems be too off topic? just as a way to help each other out and help who's broke down and pulling their hair out. :) where else are you going to get this much knowledge in one place.

ok it was just an idea, the threads i saw asking for help seemed to be very helpful and no one was trashing anyone for asking.

Try the Garage Journal. There's a ton of mechanics there.

Try the Garage Journal. There's a ton of mechanics there.i guess if it's not a popular idea just delete this thread, I thought if enough people liked the idea it could have been a way for hamb members to help each other out if needed,

why would anyone want to come to the HAMB to discuss their honda of ford tempo?

I don't, I had just seen several threads recently that were asking questions about repairs on late model stuff, and amazingly the threads stayed civil, i thought it might keep them in one place.

I actually like the idea. There is a ton of knowledge here and it's not limited to the old stuff.
The main trouble I can see with it is there are exponentially more people having difficulty with late models than there are people building hot rods. Once the search engines lead them here, they aren't going to know or care what this place is about. They'll start dropping their questions wherever they click first. It already happens to a small extent. Eventually, the late model area will get huge and cost a fortune in fees as well as moderator attention.

good point, i can see the problem forming , i have an off topic section in social groups, but it's more of a project type area, not really for new stuff, more of a group for people who are also into the stuff the regular hamb is about too. even my off topic project is a quarter century old already.

Haha that a good way to say "mid eighties".
Or a bad way to say how old my fiance is.
The Garage Journal really is good. There are decent mechanics there. If not when I ge stuck on some stupid computer late model shit I've never had anything go unanswered in automotive forums.
Strangely, most other boards say, "Just ask over on the HAMB, there's some good knowledgeable people over there."

Hey Kenny...shhhhh...there you go, that's better...now, I'll agree with going to the Garage Journal or Google for late model stuff, there's already too many O/T posts as it is on the main board, with the exception of the "help, I'm broke down on I-90 with a bad fuel pump on my '87 Chev pickup" type threads aka "HAMB'r down/stranded"...THAT kind of help to me is great because there's usually someone local to go pick them up or lend a hand/track down parts/tow them home, etc...

I check the HAMB twice a day. If I hit the "new posts" tab I get 20 pages to wade thru. Please don't make we look over and around some joker asking about what wiper blades are best for his '92 honda civic too!

Oh I agree, I guess go ahead and delete it, I have the social group for off topic project stuff, keeps it off the main board and in one place.
