There's places for two more knobs on my '49 dash. I can't figure out what they are for except maybe a passenger "AIR" knob near the radio. Still have no clue what goes on the closer side though. Also... while you shoebox people are here... will those speedway ford trans to chevy engine adaptors work with an overdrive trans? Will it break behind a 327?

try ign. switch on right and starter botton on left. your tranny wasn't made for hot rodding behind a small block chevy, I would go with a 4 speed if you want a stick.

Thanks,
I didn't think it would be a great trans for hot rodding, but I am cheap and lazy. I was hoping it would be ok cause without the overdrive I am stuck with 4.11 gears.

I had a mildly built flathead and blew up first gear the first time I took it out . it was in a 49 ford , stock tranny & rearend . of course that was at the end of a 1/2 block long burnout . It sounded like going up the hill on a roller coaster when it was in first gear for a few weeks after that . Had to rebuild the trans pretty quickly , it was very lame . I can only wonder what a good running 327 could do to that tranny .

Those rear axles ain't too strong either. Maverick 8 in is just about a bolt in, you'll be needin it.....OLDBEET

Well Hell, It looks like my plan to ditch my '54 just isn't working out. Looks like I'll have to do just as much scrounging and work to put the 327 in the ford as I have already done for the Chevy. Thanks for the input guys. Maybe I'll see if the flathead 6 will run.
