Can anyone tell me where the casting numbers for a 1967 ( I think ...don't know for sure) GMC inline 6 are? It is for sure not a 235 or a 292. I think it is a 250. I can't seem to find the correct numbers. I got some numbers from a stamping pad just behind the distributor (F0522JK). The Head reads 3836848. and the Tranny reads 233952645.

I've checked with inliners.org and stovebolt.com but I don't seem to have the right numbers.

I want to make sure what motor and transmission I am dealing with.

By the way I got the truck with the transmission removed from the motor and no bolts any where. Can anyone please tell where I can buy or what types of bolts I need for the clutch and the ones needed to attach the tranny to the motor.

Thanks,TD http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused.gif

The head casting number is a '55 - '62 Chevrolet 235 head...the good one. Not sure on the block number...you need the casting number off the block for a positive id. If I remember correctly it's on the other side of the block.

The F0 prefix is found in 1960 trucks...I'd bet you've got a '60 235 there.

Thanks, Kustm...But do you have any info on the tranny? 'see the owner told me it was a 250cid so I went and bought a clutch kit for a 250. Do you know if this would still fit...or if there is any difference in transmissions for a 235 and a 250?

Take a look at
www.danielstrohl.com/sixinfo4.html (http://www.danielstrohl.com/sixinfo4.html)
It showes the "F" as a 250 with a 1 bbl from a Olds F-85.
In my book from Leo Santucci-Cheverolet Inline Six-Cylinder Power Manual the information stamped behind the distributor is where the block was cast, compression rato and accessories it had.
Take a look at Dans site, verry interesting.
