Well now I can offically be one of the guys.....well eventually. I picked up an incredible 31 five window coupe that has been chopped and channeled. I'm running a 53 flathead with a three speed top loader, 48 ford front/rear end. I'm gonna go with a 32 truck shell with a three core mustang radiator.

Now all I have to do is figure out where I want to go with it. I really love the ones that ride just a couple inches off the ground. I was hoping you guys had some pictures of some super low coupes. I'd appreciate all the help I can get.

I'm thinking of going flat black early fifties style with it. I'm gonna Z the back....maybe the front....

I've got 16 inch wheels that I am determined to run, just to be different. I wanna get my wheels and tires figured out so I can get my final stance right when I jag with the frame. Should I run blackwalls or whitewalls?

I'll post a pic of mine later today

thanks, all

This one's cool. I think it's generally undriveable in my area because of the shitty streets.

The idea i've been working on is how do you keep everything above the bottom of the frame rails that could possibly drag... Then create some skid plates that could be tacked to the underside of the frame! maybe a hidden couple of rollers somewhere attached to the frame down beside the footwells... so ya can get over the driveways!

Hey Brian, thanks for postin' a pic of my coupe!!! It looks even lower in the grass than reality. The bottom of the grill sits about 3 & 1/2 inches of the pavement and the lowest point of the frame rails match...BUT, I kept everything higher than that underneath...The bottom of the oil pan is 6-7 inches off the dirt. I drive the car anywhere...yes it has bottomed out pullin' into gas stations, but it's only the frame rails and who looks at the paint on them? Unless you count roadkill!!! I did have the car for sale a couple weeks ago...but let's just say it's off the market for the time being....I got a stay of execution http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Hey SkipStich.. you have any problem with rocks, etc. breaking those headlights? I'd think it'd be a prob with them so low.

Rix, Haven't had a problem yet (two years on the road)...the only thing a little funky about 'em is that they cast long shadows on really small bumps. That took some gettin' use to, but after about ten minutes you realize the road ISN'T full of washboard dips.... http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif
