This thread every friday is off-the-hook inspiring. Spoggie: your stuff is always nicely whacked, Gary C: What you do with a Wacom is masterful, Clysdale: You're the master of black, fortypickup: I dig your originality, squindo: Your lines have great attitude, brett4Christ: Your lines have soul, 57 Corvette Bob: Do you ever sleep? - it's like you create 17 major productions every week. And to the many other artists who generously show off their secret and not so secret stuff week in and week out, thank you.
Had to say that. I haven't painted many hot rods, but I loved this wheelie poppin' rail sent in by muncie awhile back and thought I'd try to capture the moment in acrylic after being inspired by so many great friday art shows.

Geez, this site was never intended to be accessed through a dial-up connection, things just aren't loading... I'll have to come back and have a look at this week's show when I'm back on a fast connection. Looks like another awesome show from what I can see so far. I haven't seen a DeSoto on here before that I remember. Here's a car I rendered that started out as one: http://i350.photobucket.com/albums/q426/McK_Racing/artwork/1934_DeSoto_FabFlashb2007.jpg

Hey folks! Good show again. Talent here never ends.
I've got another patch design that I'm working with from an old patch that my buddy Ed sent along.
REPENT:
http://car-n-art.com/hamb/sos_repent_patch.jpg
The original patch just had a skull and crossbones wearing a helmet that had "REPENT" written on it. I couldn't exactly make heads or tails of exactly how it was meant to be read, so I developed the line: "never repent for the sins of speed; only for what is failed to achieve".
I liked the idea of "Sins of Speed" so much I started to play with the idea a little more:
http://car-n-art.com/hamb/sos_graphic_1.jpg
Possible T-shirt idea:
http://car-n-art.com/hamb/SOS_t-shirt_1.jpg
Enjoy the weekend.

I'm pretty much digging everything I see so far:cool:
I did bikes 99 and 100 this week:D The first 4 were done when I first started welding, 5 or 6 years ago. The last 96 have been done since the beginning of 2008.
Here is #100, "Nail in the Coffin". It's this week's Year of the Chopper charity auction (http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=180428922575&ssPageName=STRK:MESELX:IT).

WooHOO! I loves me some Friday art show, you guys do amazing stuff!!!!
Here's mine! Doodles done while pretending to take notes in EV (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Earned_value_management) meetings. It was either do this or fall asleep. I love sketching with a ballpoint pen...forces you to try and make good on marks you might otherwise erase.

^--- guy sat across from me in a project meeting with this expression for nearly a half an hour and I couldn't resist.
Love these! I do this all the time some people I just can't resist drawing they are so funny. Some of my best doodles are when I should be doing something else!
First time posting in the art show! Crazy group of talent here! I typically do comic book stuff, but here are some car related stuff. Mostly quick sketches, one I slapped some PS color on. Catwoman is kinda pinup-ish.. sorta... more to my normal stuff, sorry if it should only be car stuff.

Discovering the "Friday Art Show" has been one of the best things about being here on the H.A.M.B. - Constantly amazed & inspired by the talent displayed every week.
Here's a "New Old Sign" I made up a while back. Cheap pine table blank from the local hardware store that was painted, sanded, then painted, & sanded again, knocked around the garage, sanded some more etc. etc. till it looked right.

so cool to see this on here Scott I'm happy as hell that I got to see this up close at the Fallout......detail on this is unreal..... http://i38.tinypic.com/2dkx2cz.jpg
Finished this Monday...9lbs. of clay later. The name of the piece is called "THRILL RIDES", it is based off of a drawing I did early spring. Plan to debut this at Grand National Roadster Show in January. Next step is to build the case to carry it, that will be the easy part....cheers~
Sculpting has gotten heavy here as of late, also ramping up my own line of "669" shift knobs that i have designed and decided to sculpt myself...will post those as they progress. For now, i hope you enjoy my latest.
As always, enjoy the art..so nice to be surrounded by so much talent here on the H.A.M.B.

My buddy Marty has made several car sculptures, usually late model dirt cars. He starts with wood, then carves in details or adds to it with clay. I got him turned on to Aves Epoxy Putty & he loves it. Here's a rod of his that's still in the "work in progress" stage.

Thanks Paulatxntric-
100E for sure. Guess that's why I ran with this 'generic' drawing. More a homage to late 50's Petersen mags & GM/ Ford 50's compacts.

This is award for a local Cobra club. It will be a traveling award given out every year to the member that wrecks their car (the worst). Aluminum 'AC' pedal pad polished and painted, brake shaft made from some 1/8" stock and a block of Walnut. Still needs a plaque or maybe laser etching.

Actually, these are pre-Newton Roach designs. I wish I knew who did these. But they're way too crude to be Newt art... check out Thom Taylor's book on Monster Hot Rod art, and there's a piece of Newt art from 1964 of a Nash Metro that makes me weep, it's so good.
