'29 Ford truck pictures from new member

Some of the HAMB members have requested me to post some pictures of my '29 Ford truck. Here it is. I drove 1350 miles to pick this up, a gift from my aunt. She had the original title, and I found the original sideboards for it. I also found on her farm many bodies and frames for Model A's and other cars. I only had room on the trailer for a few of those goodies. If you have never traveled Montana looking for cars you should plan a run sometime. If anyone has used a 1 ton for a project let me know how to use this thing.

Your 1 1/2 ton truck probably has a 3 spd with an auxillary two speed transmission. You have a worm gear rear axle. The worm was a poor idea and is limited to low speeds. You can use a 30-31 4 spd and rear axle. The 4 spd allows you to add a PTO which can be handy. The later axle allows the use of dual rear wheels. This rates your truck at 2 1/2 tons. It also allows it to run at respectable speeds. aa-fords.com is for old Ford trucks and ahooga.com is the best place for Model A information. I have some parts. What else do you wanna know?

Nice start. My 33 started life as a 1 & 1/2 ton. The cab is the same as a P/U Put it on a lighter frame and build a high boy.

That would be realy cool left as a 1ton. Put a canvas cover over the bed, dump it on the ground with a V8 auto combo. Do it all stock on the outside, factory style paint and all. Brizio did a 32 1ton quite a few years ago. There was one at GOODGUYS Kansas this year, didn't get a good up close look at it though, I think it was 32 to 34. Could have been the Brizio truck, don't know. Wanna sell it? Dean

I don't know that I'd go that far, but the AA frame cuts down into a nice, stout Model A-sized frame. It'll take more torque than the A frame and looks quite decent. Somebody on here did it once, but I forget who. I want to say Germ, actually...

I remember him SPECIFICALLY cutting down
one of those bigger frames
And shaping it into something of a 32 car frame...

As for what should be done with it?
I say with a big truck like that,
make it look like a "dust-bowl refugee",
Or maybe an old-time tow truck...

I'm buiding a '28 Closed cab and I wish it had that patina going for it. Super cool truck! That visor is '28/'29 truck only or '26/'27 T.

Thanks guys, I can get a "28-'29 frame real cheap, I might just build a hiboy pickup. I like the idea of useing the 1 1/2 ton frame, those lighter frames a hell to box for strength. One thing is for sure the drive trains gotta go. Sorry its not for sale, my aunt want to see it run again. The truck under the tarp is a '68 chevy short with a 435 hp 427. I bought this back in 1978, drove it to high school, collage, and many jobs. I started restoration just before I found the 34 ford. Now with a son in collage,funds are short as hell. The 34 paid for the first year at UT Arlington, aint it a bitch.

Pretty cool...I'd be tempted to build it as a slightlly rodded vintage stake truck. Fill the bed with old beer kegs and paint a faded brewery or distributor's name on the doors and drive it!
