we'll it's Friday already on the East Coast...
I wasn't able to post anything last Friday because i was still working on this piece and i had went out of town for the weekend.

Here is painting #2 of 6 for my upcoming art show in SF!
this one is called "Johnny's 1930 Model A" and it's again ... done with Acrylics on a large 30" x 40" canvas.

this Coupe was actually at the Cow Palace Rod and Custom/Bike show last weekend and the owner was stoked when i told him i was doing a painting of his car!

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v480/cabphotos/johnnys1930.jpg

this one took 29 hours to complete... i timed it this time:)

enjoy,
CAB

Hello Coupe-De-CAB,

I want to complement you on a great painting. Your work is AAAAA+++++. What do you charge for one that size?

Yeah, it's midnight SOMEWHERE

I collaborated on the design with my talented tattoo artist/nephew Zac, and spent over an hour under the gun today:
http://graveyard.realmofshadows.net/mistaya/images/testorstattoo01.jpg
It hangs from the nail in my shoulder, and empties its MEK goodness into the IV shunt in my inner elbow - which stung a little more than the rest. I'm a model geek, and I'm gonna shout it proud.

Awww Cab, that is very, very nice artwork!

Congrats on leading off the show, it's a pretty hard thing to do with those guys from Oz lurking about. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

It looks slightly distorted because of how I'm leaning. It's still far from completion, with a lot more shading to do on the Willys. After that is completed, then the filler / background images will be started. Eventually those will be wrapping up and around and down into full sleeves, covering up the flames on my right arm..

Thanks John,
Yea, i'm really stoked how this one came out, it had more detail than the last one, it looks way better in person, because of the size and the brush strokes ...the jpeg pics don't really do it justice:(

Haven't really decided on the price of each one of these as of yet, but since the art gallery is taking 50% from the sale of each of my paintings (ouch), these will probably have a high price tag to them!

as for the Hamber price, that can be negotiated later if these don't sell at the show:)
these will show for three weeks at the Gallery in SF.
thanks again,

That's wicked! Can't wait to see the rest. Makes me want to spend the weekend painting. Never seem to have enought time. Too many hobbies, not enough hours in the day. How'd you get hooked up for the show? One day, again - when I find the time, I would like to do a series. Enough to show, anyway. Damn day job!

I actually just got this going a couple hours ago as I got bored.
http://images8.fotki.com/v148/photos/3/316525/1217205/DSCN0161-vi.jpg
It's a deep red with a bunch of gold pearl thrown in, then hit with 4 coats of gold flake over the flames, then I let it set and unmasked it. On the top of the lid I sprayed 3 more coats of gold flake (with a lot less flake in the clear this time). I'm just waiting for the solvents to flash off now before I final bury the flake on the thing and call it a day. Looks pretty sick, wish I had the striping skills some of you guys have, as it would be finished off very nicely with some well done pinstriping. Ahh well.

Thanks Chopper Daddy!
I'll keep posting them as i finish them every week if i'm in town to work on them:) I'm starting #3 on Monday.

as for the showing, i heard about an upcoming show that involved "skaters that do art and artists that skateboard " theme show and i was asked to be apart of it. I have shown at this gallery once before from a friend of mine hooking me up with being a part of their group showing peices, that's how to do it, get involved with others already setting up a show, that's your way into getting recognized for your art:) I don't do enough art with all thye other hobbies in my life to do a Solo art show, maybe some day if i keep at it. But just knowing that your going to be invovled with a art show makes it more motivated to do art, at least for me! So hopefully this will keep snowballing into more and more shows and i'll be painting all the time:)

I want to say that there been some awesome stuff posted on this weeks art show and i like it, especially the pinstriping stuff, that shit is hard to do:( You guys make it look good! thanks to all for the nice compliments and look for a new one by next friday ... hopefully!
best wishes to all who contributed this time,
CAB
