I've searched the 'net' high and low, including the HAMB for more details on this transmission... I'm pretty new to this (building cars), and I don't know alot about what I've never had my hands on before. I got this transmission from a little horse trading.. I simply thought "Hmmm, a Borg-Warner 4-speed. Sure, that'll work!!!" Little did I know...
So... I'm trying to find a bell housing to go from this transmission to my 305 small block. I have a standard chevy 4-speed bell housing, and it's WAY off... The third picture of this tranny is the output shaft head on shot showing the bell housing bolt pattern... Is it Ford? I only have experience with Ford Top Loaders... so I don't know. Any information would be greatly appriceated.
Thank you,
DamnitDave

Definetly not Chevy. I'm thinking Ford or Chrysler. I wouldn't screw with it for use behind a Chevy Motor. Sell it or trade it for one with a Chevy bolt pattern.

It's for a Ford.Lakewood has a dual pattern bell housing scattershield that will fit that trans to a 305, Use a Ford clutch disc. You may have to turn down the throwout bearing pilot to fit a Chevy throwout bearing

Other Side... I HAVE A VERY SIMILAR TRANS, IT IS A FORD TRANS AND I WAS TOLD IT CAME FROM A FALCON. I INSTALLED IT IN MY FAIRLANE. I HAD TO MAKE AN ADAPTER PLATE TO MOVE THE SHIFTER BACK DUE TO THE LENGTH DIFFERENCE IN THE FALCON AND FAIRLANE. IF YOUR CAR IS NOT A FORD AND LONGER THAN A FALCON I WOULD TRY TO FIND A BETTER TRANS FOR YOUR APPLICATION.

It is Falcon. I would say 65 . I sold that tail housing last week. The falcon, comet is all the way fwd for the shifter, while the fairlane is in the middle, and the mustang is all the way to the rear. works good with a small block ford.
Fwiw, there was a BW T-10 made for Chryco.
Bother-in-law had one in his 61 Dodge with cross ram 413.
It looked very similar to the one in the pics except it had a much finer splined input shaft.

Seems to fit my poor memory that standard Ford is 1.125 dia. 10 spline on the input. Heavy duty is 1.375 10 spline. The t10's can be about 3 different first gear ratios. I think, 2.54, 2.36, and 2.20. Nothing wrong with them, just not as heavy as the top loader.

It looks Ford to me. Not sure about the tail shaft, is the yoke in it? I had a 64 sprint and it had a splined output shaft. As far as I can recall it was stock. tim
