I will be looking to get some glass installed in my chopped 51 business coupe here pretty soon. The goggles were a tuff sell to the wife and plexi looks kinda' fugly once it gets all scratched up, so I want to start setting a little dough aside for the "next phase".

I was curious, what can I expect to pay to have the templates made, the glass cut, and installed? Are there any "hidden" costs or steps that I havn't mentioned that I should anticipate?

I have a stocker rear window and imagine I'll just pick up a re-pop seal or is this a standard material that the glass guy might take of a bulk roll?

Lastly, any recommendations for a shop here in So. Cal? Preferably San Diego. Thanks in advance, you folks are the best!

I'd contact Mike Cox at the Glass House in San Dimas. He just did the glass for my Packrod and I'm very happy with the job. His phone is 909-592-5099. He's a little north of you but probably only a 2 hour drive. I paid $300 for 8 pieces of side glass. I think for the rear seal you'd be better off with a complete seal rather than using generic material because the joint usually becomes a trouble spot and the re-pop seal is formed so the corners will lay nice and not try to rotate up like the generic.

2 windshields
2 vents
2 doors
2 quarters = 250-300 bucks

then come the hidden costs

rubber parts windshield (V-butt or standard) vent seals, and backglass = 160-180 bucks

channels and feather strips 120-150 bucks

labor 6-10 hours depending on how nice your is @ 20.00-60.00
an hour = 120-600

looks like $650.00 to $1230.00
thats for a total glass restoration and if you don't need or want to replace some parts you can save some here and there. also labor and rubber parts are the main place that cost extra http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cool.gif

Thanks guys.

Leon, did that include the install and components as 48 described? Your testimony seemed to match what I had conjured up in my mind

48, thanks for the detailed break down. If it makes a difference. The rear 1/4's will be fixed and the vent windows done away with for single piece side glass. I'm not sure if this simplifies or complicates things.
