nice car 60's style. Mine has a ford 9" in it too, but it's got a 440/727. The front suspension is mustang II, so I guess it's part dodge/ part ford

Got a 34 Ply 2-sd that's about rough enough to only consider for a dirt track jalopy replica. Have several pieces that are coming to resemble a modified, In my Mind... Started with 33 Chrys cowl, 67 225 S-6 with Offy intake and hyd-clutch 3spd. Grille shell is Diamond-T/'52 Chevy hood and sheet. Arm load of Susp stuff stacked. Just a pile of junk on the back burner...

Ah yeah mind kinda thread! Mopars!
this is mine. Not much to look at but it is my first significantly old car (other than two el caminos) that I have lovingly dumped gobs of time and money into (brakes, floor pans, milled head and gasket, hotter spark, mexican blanket, skeletons) and enjoy every minute of.
Wayfarer, I dig yer Wayfarer..
Presently I am workin on a fenton two deuce for it. I have tried to get an EDGY head for it but they never seem to respond to my emails. Are they around any more or what? Ah well other plans include splittin the exhaust manifold and some day building the motor up, I have a good friend who uses the same motor in a pullin tractor and it is chock full of goodies that make it pound... but fer now I just drive it and enjoy the hell out of it..

Well, since you asked, I've about gathered up all the necessary original parts (bodies, fenders, frames, hoods, grills, etc) for a pair of '37 plymouths and also 35 Dodge. On the far right in the picture is my '37 Plymouth pickup project; second from the right is my '37 Plymouth Delivery; and fourth from the right is my '35 Dodge coupe project. Would like to talk to other Hambers who have done Mopars of this vintage since most of my background is with old Fords and flatheads. I've got an want ad running right now for a Hemi to put in the '37 Delivery.

Kooter, we put a ford 9" out of a '58 ford in ours and it bolted right in. We didn't even have to move the spring pads. We used the ford lower shock mounts and swapped them side for side in order to have the shock in the front like stock. It's a direct bolt in and you get open driveline, big brakes and a rearend with big bearings.

I used sheet steel and cut out the old rusted sections and tig welded everything into space with the help of Salt Flat Matt. After that I used brush on bedliner to seal everything up. It is solid! Took one weekend to get the job done right but it was worth it.

Is Jerry Senn still in the club? He sold his '34 so I don't know if he's still in. The guys I know are in Street Tin, but mostly they just go to stuff with us. I know the guy who's the longest active member of Street Tin, in fact he painted the dodge. Have you taught at SCC for a long time? The guy who did the bodywork on the fenders and hood of the wayfarer was a student there a long time ago. His name is Leigh Hopkins.

If I can get my garage built, then we will probably repaint it(same colors, but either flake or candy...she wants flake, but I don't think it will look right.) Yea, the head is expensive. I bought mine a couple of years ago, for $600. Edgerton is making them in his spare time I hear, so production is limited. I think the last run was $650. I've also heard that Edgerton has put them on the back burner till spring, and if you want one, you need to send a deposit and get on the list.
The headers are also a make when have time type deal, from Langdon's Stovebolt Six (http://www.stoveboltengineco.com/index2.htm). They are around $300. a set.
Another outfit is making a killer set of tube headers, Phillips Welding and Exhaust (http://www.exhaustedbyphillips.com) , but they are $750 a set. I Don't have a photo of them, but they look really good. Have a look at their website to get a feel for the kind of work they do. Drop by the P15-D24 forum and ask Hugh Forest to post a shot of his set.

I've decided to leave the brakes and suspension stock for now, asside from cutting a coil in the front and lowering blocks in the rear. I'm in the process of replacing the stock brake stuff now, about half done. The overdrive will make a difference, but the car would do 60-65 easily before I tore it down, with holes in two pistons. Rusty1- depending what your goal is, there may be no reason to sub it. Your 50 already has IFS that can be made to work much better just by changing the upper shock mounts from the A-arm to the frame as with F-1 mounts.
Then add a power booster and dual master to the brakes and do a really careful job adjusting them and you're done at minimal cost.

Well, since this very old tread was brought back up from the dead...
My son has a 47 Plymouth coupe with a 360 4v, 727, 8 3/4 sure grip with 3:55 gears. (it's for sale)
I have a 54 Dodge 1/2t pickup with a Volarri clip, 360, 727, 8 3/4 with 3:23 gears. and a 50 pick up mounted on an 80 Dodge 4x4 chassis. 360 4v, 727, 9 1/4 with 3:55 suregrip rear and a dana 44 front with lock out hubs. (both of these are for sale, but only one will leave this go around, got to have something to cruise in..)
I am building a 37 Plymouth business coupe that I think will get a 3.3 from an Intrepid with the transaxle mounted where the rear end used to be. Just got the 3.3 out Sat, will let you know how that works out.
Just got a line on a 50 Dodge Wayfair on the cheap that may find its way here. Gene
Wonder how many of these earlier cars are still around?

Man, you did a beautiful job, nice car...it's inspiring. I've got a '53 Windsor in the back of the garage I've had for 25 years. Went through an insanity stage when I was going to restore it but all the chromed stuff from front to rear was totally destroyed when the plater in NC burned down. No one wanted to buy it so I stored it in the back of the garage, bought a Stude and swapped in a sbc350. Your Mopar is inspiring, have thought about selling the Stude and doing the Chrysler as a dechromed suede with a drivetrain transplant.THANKS for the inspiration, ALL of you HAMBers!!

.......I would like to get rid of the Fluid Drive on this car it just makes it so difficult to drive and enjoy this car.... A Three speed would be my favorite way to go but do you guys have any other way this can be done? Also is there anyone outthere that has a three speed setup for sale? Hey thanks, I've been batting around the idea of welding them up actually and yes those are 49 bumpers. Still doing some massaging to get the fit just right. As far as the tires go, 2 are Dunlop G-78 and the others are Godfather H-78. They're really old Bias Ply's that I picked up for next to nothing. I'm working on painting some wide whites from radials like I read in a diff post too. I've got all kinds of mods and little details goin on with this thing. hoping to get it on the ground and out the garage to get some real good pics of it to share.

Currently trying to get a Malibu frame to go under this.
Being next to an river has caused the paint to start coming off, and is rusting the hell right out of it.
But hey, its a four door, with no front floor pan, and most people would've just parted it out. I'd like to try to save it.

It's a rare old Mopar that doesn't have at least one of those little stainless pieces missing. When you buy one, make sure you buy one for the left side of the car because the one on the right side is different.
Once you find one,go to the web site below and buy the correct trim clips to hold it on,or you will be sorry. These short pieces use different clips than the longer pieces.

Sweet lookin wagon back there! whats the story on that?
It's a 58 Rambler Cross Country wagon with factory air, tinted windows,ps,pb,and even a trailer towing kit. The original 194 inline 6 with the optinoal 2brl carb has been machine shop rebuilt, and has about 300 miles on it. It has 3 on the tree with overdrive.
It needs a luggage rack,a little bodywork, paint, and a new owner. Rides and drives good,or did back when I had license plates on it.
Interested? PM me with your email address and I can send you some photos of it.

Has nothing to do with WW-2 Your Plymouth IS a business coupe. Plymouth business coupes were always 5-window coupes until the 1949-50 models came out. The Dodge,DeSoto, and Chrysler business coupes were always 3 window coupes.
BTW,if you compare the profiles closely, you will notice your Plymouth 5 window business coupe has a different roofline than the 5 window club coupes (Club Coupes were the ones with back seats). The back glasses and rubber are even different.

some bitchin rides in this thread, ive got a soft spot for the underdog of the car industry that is mopar.
i dont have any pictures yet but i cruise around town every day(because its my only car) in a 54 dodge coronet 4dr with stock ride height, took the side trim off and leaded in the holes, almost stock rebuilt 53 241 hemi with three deuces and stock cam, original 2spd auto that i rebuilt, stock breaks. and im very surprized at how well it handles i can stop much better than i thought old cars ever did, ive avoided a few senior citizens pulling out when they shouldnt have. and on top of it all my 13 gal fuel tank lasts about two weeks. im stoked and i love my car.

We only have two women in our club, Silhouettes Kustoms and Hot Rods, and both of them are building MOPARS.
Doreen drives a '50 Plymouth Wagon that is all Plymouth from the 318 to the custom seats.
Then we have Sarah"Cherry Baby" and she drives a '53 Dodge more door.
I think she said it is sitting on a late model Lincoln frame running a 318.
Her and her boyfriend pulled it out of a field in Idaho after the farmer said she could have it.
I'll attach some pictures of them and fellow Silhouettes member Jamo's '29 Dodge.

Chrysler also had a 33 Plymouth coupe body on a 1932 6 cylinder chassis in late 32. I can't remember what letter Chrysler used to designate this series in 1932,but as far as I can find it it was only the 3 cylinder cars.

Here's another 38 four door. So far it's close to stock, I have only added an aluminum head and split exhaust manifold with dual exhaust. Please tell me how you lowered the front end, I can't figure out how to do it with the leaf springs. I want mine lowered just like your's is.
Here's another shot of mine, it's way to tall........
