40 Axle what spring?

Heres the deal I was putting the front end together last night and hit a some what of a delima...I have a 40 frod axle and was trying to run a model A spring and it was to short/ I ordered another from speedway and it was wider but now it really is to wide and makes the shackles hit the spring perch?
So my question is what spring is used on these 40 axles other than the stock super swamper spring?

Measure center to center at the perch bosses (axle holes) and deduct five inches. Or measure center to center from the actual spring perches and deduct three inches - that's your spring width.....jesus man, don't you own a shop? http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

If you run a shop you should answering my stupid questions. I'm just a first timer hack in a basement. So WHAT spring? The spring that is five inches shorter than the perch bosses, sweeteart. And I don't know if there is a stock one that fits that discription. Sorry for the help.
