My '85 Chevy C-10 (2 wheel drive) Pickup trans is on it's last legs. Thinks and takes it's time going into reverse when cold, and recently, contemplates going into first. It's also puking trans fluid all over the street. I thought about just pulling it out and rebuilding it myself, but if there is anyone out there willing to do it on the cheap
(or someone you know that knows TH350's) I welcome your responses...if the parts truck ain't happy, ain't NOBODY happy... http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused.gif

I can check and see if the guy that used to rebuild my trannys is still around and doing them out of his garage. He did a TH-375 for me that ROCKED!!!
Sounds like you have a front seal leak...and when it gets low on fluid, it will take it's time going into reverse. Had a Nova with a TH-350 that did that...as long as the fluid was full, it worked great...but when it got low...it acted just as you're describing! (Leaked like hell...a bitch to keep full...but the car was SHOT so I never did fix it!).
You shoulda put that 700R4 in the truck!! http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif
(Or put Jason's Muncie in it...add an extra pedal and Hurst shifter!! http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif)

Thanks Hack...
I nixed the 700R4 idea a long time ago, that's why I gave it to Jay...

You know, you could use the shifter you have, and have shifts hook you up so you could use that 700... Then you'd have od too...! http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

there's a guy up here in Flint That know his shit REAL well. Al's Trans & Gear. If you pull the tranny and bring it to him he gets like $300 or so to totally rebuild it w/ a shift kit and a warranty. The shop has several street racers that run A TON of juce, and their trannies live with that, should be just fine in a driver. They built my driver's 700 'bout a yr ago and it's still runnin strong!

I'm pretty sure he'll build whatever you want. Give 'em a call!
