Looking at buying a 28/29 rpu cab and bed that is largely un assembled and comes with a NICE sedan subframe that needs to shortened a little. Is their any diffrence besides the length in the subframe? Thanks...

surely the subrail for a sedan [through the door opening] would be different as the RPU would have much shorter door than sedan

About 25 years ago my dad was building a phaeton. I was 5 so I dont recall all of the details. He used a sedan subframe, but he had alot of trouble making it work. Not sure if the rpu is different than the sedan, but I would do some major measuring.

Wideglide, Model A parts stores sell 6 different sets of subrails. The closed cab pickup set is even different than the rpu.

RPU subframes are different. Buy a repro from Brookville (only get the parts you need) and be money and time ahead. They aren't that pricey.

I read someplace about this....in the Syder's catalog.

Says the 1930-31 Tudor sedan sub-rails need to be cut down to fit the 30-31 Closed Cab truck.

Roadster trucks are diff and they list them for $199.00 a pair
1928-29 RPU part # is A-1032-A
1930-31 RPU part # is A-1032-B

Hope this helps.
