Ok, I'm slow! Hate to waste film so I finally got my pics developed of when I lowered my '59 dodge. Some of the pics didn't turn out how I thought they would, but here they are regardless. I painted my car that weekend too, goodbye red primer!

after... ok so it was dark, but I thought the flash and the parking lot lights might help, but I guess not. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/crazy.gif

she drives like a dream now! feels like I installed powersteering!

this is what happens to your flexpipe when you lower your car and don't adjust your tailpipe! I ripped the sucker right off driving off the lawn since we have a slope into the street.

This also was homecoming weekend... this is what happens during parade lineup if you leave your car to find a bathroom. Tuck finds a window marker and lays out flames http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Sweet car... like it a lot. Don't see many of those late 50's Dodges around really. There is a '59 wagon down here that's bit sitting for years... about the only one I remember seeing. Cool pictures though... looks mean at night

Those pics are so cool! What paint didja use for the roof?
Nice pics and nice job, Mel.

Well, I let the window paint sit on the car since it's been crazy around here with registration, mid-terms, Halloween, and all. It came off real nice the other day when it snowed 4" and I brushed off my car with the shop broom. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I spent a total of $10.34 to paint the roof and fins with 11 cans of walmart special.

Mellisa, You have to be the COOLEST Hotrod girl I know....In Wi.

Nice job on the Flames too Tuck.

Mel The lowering job looks perfect, And I'm glad it still rides good. Are you still surprized how easy it was to do the front end. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

This certainly reinforces my desire to own a certain '59 Dodge I'm aware of! So many wants, so little money, *sigh*

Looks like your car club is a lot more fun than ours. Maybe I'll do grad school in Wisconsin.

By the way,why did Tuck had a PINK marker??

You GO, girl....Sweet Charlotte is lookin better all the time! Having ridden it at BTT-50's, I like the ride. Lowering the torsion bars usually doesn't hurt the ride as long as the car stays off the rubber stops....

That's a nice whip for sure, it looks mean as fuck even with just those mock flames, you should think about really doing it!

Mel

YAY- can't wait for you and Sarah to visit Tok! We miss you out here!

Thanks for the kind words guys... the lowering was a huge bonus to help to level out the ride from the saggy rear leaf springs.... I don't feel like they could snap at any moment anymore. But now I've got the bug... I feel like it could be lower! http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif

The alumni actually brought the window markers so we should really ask Jack why he had a pink marker! lol Just happened to be better than blue or yellow, I guess.

I have some satin black tractor enamel that I want to put on the car sooner or later... don't really know if I want flames on it since I want to put some flake in the roof and fins someday when I have cash and a real job... might look too busy with flames as well.

Hey your car is lookin good. Did you you do something to the springs or just load it with fat girls. JK. It looks great. Maybe you can flame my truck with that pink marker..
It matches my slippers and robe..

At least you fininshed painting the roof at home instead of in the middle of the car show.

The front end of that car is fantastic. Talk about a face... For a flame job done while you were in the restroom, they look really good. Apply some paint and keep 'em. Thanks for the great pics.

Mel, what size rims are on your car? 14 or 15 inch?

Billy

Mel
11-05-2003, 07:37 PM
They are 15" rims... not stock and I have no idea what they are off of, and for some reason, people always ask what they're off of. They'd make great chrome reverse though...

Those are the same kinda wheels that go on my '47 and '55 Chryslers. The littler holes between the lug holes would be for riveted-on spring clips to hold on a baby-moon-type hubcap. The reason no one knos what they are is because they were only used on Mopars and orphan makes, and nobody likes those http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

Mel, I guess you know whats on my mind by saying they are not stock. will stock wheelcovers fit on those rims?

Do you own stock in a wheel weight company? http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/blush.gif
thats alot of weights on that rim.

Let me know.

looking good, and REALLY good with those 100 mph flames! Tuck can flame my car at 56 mph any day http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif!

Mel

Thanks Machinos! That's been bugging me ever since BTTF's when someone first asked me.

Shoebox, I do have a set of stockers for her, but they don't fit... I didn't even think to measure them before I picked up a set either so if you know anyone who needs a set....

That's Walmart for ya with the weights! The rim is slightly bent, but it didn't really need that many weights on it... the boy was putting weights on and kept putting them on until he had put an equal amount of weights on the inside as the outside, half way around the rim. Since it's bent, I had it statically rebalanced and now she's fine. Especially good to know what they're off of since I should replace that one.

They just don't know what to do over at Wally World sometimes... like taking off wheels that are reverse thread. ha! that's a joke!

I still love that car. Has anything changed on it since '50s Mel? I missed out on the ride in that thing, I was too busy chasing after my stolen wagon that night! http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif So anything coming up down there that I need to make a trip for? Haven't taken a road trip for a solid week, so I'm gettin antsy...
