After seeing the enthusiasm over the Hemicoupe video. I thought about making one at the drags in the Fly.
Do you have to have one of those new fangled digital camcorders? I have a video feature on my digital camera but I don't know how longnit would last.....
Lastly....would anyone even care?

You can do it! The digital camera should be ok. Mine is a real nice ($$$$) Sony. Sound is great, the only problem is that you can't zoom once you've started recording. I've only shot one car in motion video, the big Olds doing salt doughnuts. I noticed that the focus seemed to not work too well. Vibration and bouncing might be the major problem. Only thing you can do is try it. The trouble is, it might take 3,4, even 5 trys to get it right! http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif
I shot two quick clips of my car, to get me through the winter. One is idling in the garage. The other is a quick burnout going into the garage.
Ahhhh, technology!

I can use the camcorder, maybe that will help with the bouncing etc.......... but I still wonder about the programs for video editing.
DrJ....you are a sick man...and yes they are dubbed. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

A friend of mine shot some late night videos from the passenger seat of my chevy II. I've been tryin to get him to post 'em on Kazaa for me so I can throw em up here, but no luck yet! (He's in CA) I thought people might like to see what things USED to be like late at night in Flint town. we had quite a few races that night, and the vids were AWESOME! http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I think I have found a place to mount the camera. There is a spot right between the rollcage and the door that might work out, where you can still see the grill and frt tires.

That video is a real kick. (count the second between mile markers)
The engine is a Suzuki Hyabusa, 1.3 liter if I remember right. Rick has it making 619 HP.
If you trim the URL (http://turborick.com/video/) to show you the directory you'll find more videos including some 330 MPH passes from World Finals.

Thing is, a "drivers seat" DVD could be a hell of a project.
A ride down the track,or the salt, in the Drag-n-fly, the BFD, N49, there's dozens of cars on the HAMB to choose from.
How about a canyon run in a track T, donuts in the dirt in the Roach rod, donuts on the salt in Big Olds. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif
A hill climb in a banger, heck the list could go on and on.

Usually those video clips from a digital (still) camera are only good for about 10 seconds or so, so I guess you'll have to make one hell of a pass to get it all on there http://www.jalopyjournal.com/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif
