Having problems with Mozilla

It seems that the URL address bar is nowhere near as efficient as IE. I type in a URL and instead of going to the website, it goes to a Google page with lots of possibilities. That's irritating, since I'm so used to IE's direct access to a site.

Not only that, but once I click on one of those possibilities from the Google page, it seems to take longer than with IE in lots of instances. I heard Mozilla was faster, but I have serious doubts now!

One other area that is irritating me is that with IE I used to be able to click on "file", scroll down, click on "new", then click on "page", and get another duplicate page of the one I was working with, so I could then branch off in another direction simultaneously. Not so with Mozilla, at least not that I've found yet.

Suggestions, comments?

How old is your Mozilla? I've heard that the very latest version of Firefox has fixed many of the old complaints about the Mozilla browser.

As a work around to open a window out of your current page, right click on the link and select Open In New Window. That part is the same in Firefox or IE.

I do like Firefox and I use it at work but I agree that there are some IE functions that I miss like the 'Send Link To Desktop' button which I have yet to find in Firefox/Mozilla.

I just downloaded Firefox a few days ago. It's version 1.7.

I didn't follow that. What exactly do you mean by "click on the link", specifically "link"?

As for putting a direct hyperlink to your desktop, try right-clicking on the page, click "save page as", then save to the desktop with the desired file name. That's not what you were looking for?

Must be something with your settings....I'm using Mozilla (well I am on another computer...) There is a Google box to the right where you can search, but to the left is the standard address box. Maybe something is messed up with the perameters of the boxes....or maybe you're clicking the "G" instead of "go."

I have Mozilla 1.7, downloaded a week ago or so.

When I right-click on the URL address in the box, I do not get any "open in new window" option, only the standard cut/copy/paste stuff.

To the right of the URL address window is a button with a flashlight icon that simply says "search". This is used as a dual-purpose button apparently. If I enter a URL in the address bar, then it is the same as "go". If I type in some words into the search bar, it becomes a Google search feature and immediately I get a drop-down that is a Google search button.

This isn't the same as yours?
